What’s New

Version 2.3

This release helps clean up your links before you save them and adds a new option for sharing your links with other services.

Note: Version 2.3 will be the last to support macOS 11/12.

Features:
- Link Resolution follows any redirects in the URL and saves the final URL to the Mark. For example, a short link (https://sh.rt/lnk) is saved as the full URL it redirects to (https://example.com/full/link).
- Known tracking parameters are automatically removed from URLs.
- New export option to import your bookmarks into other apps and services.

Improvements:
- URLs on existing Marks can now be edited.

Giving 5 stars to support indie makers/devs, but an issue

Like another comment said, this does one thing well. While apps like Omnifocus or Things can do most of that this does. It isn’t their focus and are general task management apps.

That isn’t a problem though! It is a strength in this case! But as others have said, the price is quite high. Not every one can easily pay for the lifetime price. The monthly and yearly prices are so expensive compared to the lifetime, this makes it seem like another case of taxes on people with less money.

IE when Venmo, PayPal, cash app offer to get you money instantly for 1.5% fee. No one with solid money in the bank will ever need to use this. Only people with limited funds.

So obviously the analogy is someone who is committed to using the app but doesn’t have the funds, will have to go with the monthly or yearly pricing.

This effectively edges certain demographics out of rips them off. I understand why the pricing is the way it is. Monthly subscriptions, likely especially with this sort of app, don’t stay subscribed for long.

Not for me...

Granted the function of this app is incredibly helpful (despite it's simplistic nature), it is also noteworthy that for a minimalistic app, it's properly lightweight, super responsive, and is very well designed with a fantastically slick UI. Though, with all that being said, I personally find the asking price to remove the rather strict limitations, to be almost laughable. Let's be honest, at best, this is just a prettier version of something that can be done almost equally as well using something as basic as the native notes app. I don't find it strange that there is a price, but considering what it is, if I were the dev, I might expect users to pay maybe a 1-time payment of 3, 4 maybe 5 dollars to unlock. It seems absurd to expect users to pay a monthly subscription for an app like this, which requires very little (if any) server communication, virtually no significant amount of data traffic, debatably easy maintenance updates and a slew of competitor apps up for grabs , as there is (clearly) very little originality or ingenuity involved in this apps functionality. I looked at other payment options expecting some kind of lifetime payment for one-time fee, and practically chuckled when I saw dev asking for 40 bucks or something 🙄 no thanks. I'll pass. Well made app, objectively should not be subscription based though. And subjectively isn't worth 40 dollars, or even half that (in my opinion).

End Bookmark Chaos

I found this app while grumbling over my current bookmarking system, or lack there-of. This is roughly my 12th year owning iPhones (hard to believe!) and the bookmarks have gotten out-of-hand. I recently started a system using Notes, but it still isn’t optimal. DoMarks is a practical, logical solution.

Now the bad news. I would spend $20 for Premium one time, but not yearly. Just like with bookmarks, subscriptions quickly get out of hand. I don’t consider myself cheap but my kids are in college, I retired early due to illness, and I have to assign value to my spending. This is the sort of does-one-job-well app for which a pricey yearly subscription isn’t a good or wise value (for ME; others may feel differently.) Sorry, just being honest.
