Description

Edsby for iOS is the on-the-go way to access Edsby, the innovative digital learning platform helping schools transform to the modern cloud era. If your school uses Edsby and you’ve got an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, download this free app.

The Edsby app has many of the features of the full Edsby web browser interface. Some complex features for certain types of users, such as the Edsby gradebook used by teachers, aren't available on devices with small screen sizes.

To log into Edsby via this mobile app, or on a web browser, you’ll need to know your Edsby server address. If you don’t know it, ask your school.

Does its job, but not very well

I’m an almost graduated student who has used this app for four years. I’m happy to say I can finally uninstall it, as graduation is mere days away, and this review has been a long time coming.

While the website itself is pretty good for managing grades, I find the app lacks in a few aspects. The basic premise is there, but certain aspects of the website are gone. For example, on desktop you can see a graph of all of the assignments in a class and how much they impact your grade, which would be much more convenient if I could access it on my phone. In addition, I have encountered a few small glitches in the app. If I tapped on a teacher’s profile through the course itself, it wouldn’t let me access it. I had to use the search feature to find the teacher, which was a pain.

On a slightly different note, the messaging system could be greatly improved. It would be much easier if there was a method of receiving push notifications when you receive a message from a teacher, or if a large grade were posted, or if one of your grades has dropped significantly. I always found it hard to remember to check Edsby frequently, and push notifications would be a major help for students like me in future years.

In conclusion, I’ve had a love hate relationship with this app over the years, but I’m finally ready to let go. I hope Edsby changes for the better so students in years to come have an easier time.

Re: app functionality, the Edsby app isn't Edsby. The best Edsby user experience is via desktop or laptop web browser. Larger screens allow us to do the graphs that you mentioned and other things. That said, our apps will always continue to improve.

Re: notifications, push and email alerts have been in Edsby since 2017. In the mobile app, navigate to Home > Account Settings > Notifications. They're set up in the same place in a web browser, under your Account Settings. Sorry you somehow missed them.

Consider revising your review and rating if the above have helped you. Congratulations on graduating!

2.5 stars speaks for itself

I have a love hate relationship with the app as well as the platform in general. To turn on notifications you have to search deep in settings. Whenever I submit an assignment I go straight back to the classes view. The app feels clunky and my teachers are always complaining about having to use it, grades sometimes randomly move Column’s onto different assignments or just outright disappear the phone app and desktop app need a revamp. Overall there’s nothing outstanding about the service ,I think my district is switching to canvas next year so I’m so happy. Please fix you app

Edsby is continually improving both its mobile app and web browser user experiences. On mobile, there’s a lot to shoehorn into a small user interface, and different users have different priorities. Expect further enhancements soon.

I’m a teacher, and I avoid using this app

The main Edsby platform is relatively easy to use (I have some issues that I wish would be fixed with the copy/paste functionality of the planner) and helps me manage my courses.

This app gives me none of the functionality that would make it remotely helpful. I can’t access my courses easily, I can’t make plans with it, I get the bare minimum of functions for posting information to my students, and most recently the app gives me a white screen when I search for a student. The white screen won’t go away even after closing the app down. I’ve had to delete and reinstall the app 3 times just tonight.

If you’re going to use it for attendance on the go, MAYBE you might find it useful, but if you’re wanting to use it for anything that remotely may help with lesson planning, grading, or communicating with students, stick with the desktop version.

Edsby is improving its mobile apps. Expect further enhancements soon. The main Edsby user experience, especially for all the advanced things a teacher does in Edsby that don't lend themselves to small screens, is via desktop or laptop web browser.
