SARA’s eMessenger Mobile is an advanced alerting capability of Status Solutions’ Situational Awareness and Response Assistant (SARA), an automated alerting engine that provides integrated alarm monitoring, alerting/mass notification and reporting. SARA’s eMessenger Mobile turns Apple iPhone and iPad devices into mobile command and control centers for emergency alerting and response management.
All life safety, security and environmental controls within a facility can be integrated with SARA for a single point of alarm management and therefore complete situational awareness. And with situational awareness comes the ability to deliver information about potential threats in real time to virtually any communication device – especially mobile ones equipped with SARA’s eMessenger Mobile – for faster, more efficient response, especially in an emergency.
Organizations can retire obsolete communication technologies, such as pagers, and expand their use of mobile devices for greater flexibility and situational awareness in the palms of users’ hands. Responders then can deal with an unfolding event more quickly, initiate alerts and associated response plans more effectively, and escalate/notify others as necessary – all from one interface. Therefore, SARA’s eMessenger Mobile is critical to and unique in risk management because it:

MIMI link is present in admin, reports tab, desktop client, and mobile client.
MIMI link in mobile can be found under the settings tab with send logs
Full SARA Alert Message in Mobile Background Alerts
In dynamic properties, customize the alert message that shows on the lock screen of mobile
Choose to make each message type as specific or generic or change them all
{Alert_message} look up value to completely customize your messages
The {Alert_message} is the full text of the alert from SARA
This will allow users to see what the alert message is without even opening the app
New Update workflow for clients
After server update all clients, mobile and desktop, will receive a notification that an update is needed to their client
Desktop: desktop user will have the option to upgrade their client with a click of the button, or delay it to later.
Mobile: background notification informs of need to update and when app is in foreground the user will be prompted to go to the app store to update
This feature can be turned on or off fo mobile and desktop independently, desktop can be configured with a set number of reminders before forcing end users to update
Plan Down Time
In the SARA's eMessenger admin under support tab there is now an option to plan downtime for the server.
Clients are informed of the time frame of downtime and reason
Desktop Clients will refrain from notifying about server disconnect during downtime until services are restored or downtime ends
Mobile clients will be informed when in foreground if disconnected from server during downtime
All clients are notified when services are restored after planned downtime
New Ring Back Tone for Internal Calls
When placing an internal call previously the end user heard a sound that was often confused with a busy signal
This tone has been replaced with one that sounds more natural, this will be made the default ring back tone upon update
Clear Alert by Alert
Admins can now clear stuck alerts by alert instead of only by device or user.
Bug Fixes
“Ghost Alerting” after log out or detach on mobile
Implemented new alert notifications for when an alert is received in background after logging out or detaching from the server
The new notifications will confirm that the user is logged out but let them know there are active alerts on their SARA
Resolved an issue that could result in some used not being logged out properly for inactivity
Resolved an issue with the local IP address not displaying properly in mobile after change
Resolved an issue where APNS queue was not being cleared after bringing app to foreground

SARA's eMessenger Mobile APP version 20.06.2 is a bug fix release for 20.06 specifically addressing delayed and missed alerts while in background. We are releasing the mobile app prior to the server 20.06.2 release due to the alerting issue root cause being in the mobile app.
This release is only Mobile app, there will be a 20.06.2 server release coming soon.

Merging Information into Meaningful Insights (MIMI) Integration
o MIMI is a cloud-based, centralized dashboard for reporting and analytics for customers of Status Solutions using our SARA, CATIE, and/or SARA’s eMessenger solutions. MIMI provides a dashboard for corporations, facilities, staff, and family members that aggregates data from SARA and other integrated systems to provide a more comprehensive view of relevant information for users at all levels of an organization.
CATIE Front Door Access
o Now CATIE front door devices can be used to alert SARA's eMessenger mobile devices with live one-way video and two-way audio, along with the capability to remotely unlock the door from within the accepted alert
Improved Battery Utilization
o Due to the changes to APNS we were able to reduce our reliance on heartbeats when the user is logged in. This has drastically reduced SARA's eMessenger’s battery utilization when a user is logged in.
MDM Capability – Send Application Configuration
o Now if you are deploying SARA's eMessenger via MDM you can program the apps device ID and IP address to fill in automatically if you MDM provide supports application configuration. This allows the app to enter the necessary details for registration automatically, the end user then just has to hit register.
o Configuration Values – The values below should be entered into your MDM exactly as listed below.
ServerIP = This is a string value, this is the IP address of your SARA's eMessenger server
DeviceID = This is a string Value, this is the device ID as it corresponds to the SARA's eMessenger server, this will likely need to be a dynamic property as each device has a unique device ID.
Enhancements, Bug Fixes & Changes
Redesigned Apple Push Notification Service (APNS)
o Updated architecture of how we use APNS, only SIP calls are using VoIP APNS, reminders are now processed locally on device, standard APNS being used for all non VoIP alert delivery. We no longer can deliver APNS payloads without showing the user an alert.
APNS Communication Status
o On the client Status page there is a new indicator for APNS Communication status for each mobile device. After 3 minutes if acknowledgement is not received from a device its APNS status is marked as failure and APNS messages stop being sent to that device until it is put into foreground and reconnected to the server.
Notify SARA of call originator events
o SARA's eMessenger now notifies SARA of call originator events for reporting purposes
Desktop Reconnection logic
o The SARA's eMessenger desktop application no longer comes to foreground after a reconnect is there are no active alerts
Desktop Client auto restarts after installation
o Now the SARA's eMessenger desktop application auto restarts after installation for more effective installation
iOS 13 SDK adoption and iOS 14 Compatibility
o SARA's eMessenger mobile is now built with the iOS 13 SDK and iOS 14 is supported.
o iOS 14 Note: With iOS 14 incoming calls while in an App come as a banner and not a full screen take over. Therefore when a SIP call comes in from SARA's eMessenger while it is in foreground the user will only see the call as a banner at the top and in the app. The call must be answered from the banner notification. Call Settings in iOS can be adjusted to show full screen calls.

• iOS 13 compatibility
- Apple removed the ability for developers to read the notes field of contacts so we now print “SARA’s eMessenger” into the company field of the contacts SARA’s eMessenger mobile creates so we can keep them updated
- The app update will clear out duplicated contacts and a server side upgrade will be needed to start new contacts syncing.
• Proper designation for acknowledge and accepted sent to SARA
- eMessenger now differentiates between an “Acknowledged” alert from the desktop clients and “Accepted” alert on mobile when reporting to SARA.

SARA’s eMessenger release 18.04, codenamed ‘Elderberry’, is the first of 2018 and the in Status Solutions’ new twice yearly release cycle. Changes/improvements in this release include:
•Send Logs Button: A short press of the “Send Logs” Button located in the settings tab of the app will send the logs directly to the server. Holding the button for 3 seconds will allow the user to email the logs directly to a recipient of your choice using the device’s local Mail app.
•App can now use TCP of UDP to connect to SIP. There is a global configuration to control this from the server.
•SIP codecs are now offered in this default priority order: G.722 (HD audio), G.711 u-law, G.711 A-law.
•Contacts and Alert Display Sort Order now sort correctly.
•Removed generic client error message about “eMessenger has experienced and unexpected issue” to prevent false positive error reports.
