Useful service, so-so app

I originally left a one star review because I couldn’t get past the initial first step of reserving a vehicle for the next day. Once I tried booking nearby available vehicles on demand though, I realized the Free2Move service is actually fairly seamless. The *app* is still buggy and exasperating at times. For instance, I booked a car yesterday and when I arrived to start the car it had a completely flat tire? Like with no warning. Also at the end of a ride the “rate your ride” review prompt pops up twice for no reason. And on a couple of occasions I’ve accidentally left something in the car or forgotten to roll up a window, something people do all the time — the app really needs to account for contingencies like this, instead of forcing us to call the service line or rebooking just to roll up a window. But overall, if you’re a car-free individual who needs to get around fairly quickly and cheaply (and safely during this pandemic), Free2Move is a good choice.

Locked the car with MY STUFF IN IT!

I was renting the car for about 6 days now. This means I’ve successfully COMPLETED the verification process. I hadn’t rented until weeks after completing.
IN THE MIDDLE OF MY TRIP, they locked the car. It’s parked outside my house and I was walking to get in the car, the app didn’t have the car there. I noticed it was saying driver info failed? The butting said change info, I resubmitted mine. Even tho I live in Oregon, I’m originally from Florida. So my ID is still FL. I also took this picture when I was 22 years old and I’m now 26, with two kids later and I’ve changed my hair. So I called customer service, very friendly by the way. However, she put me on a lengthy hold just to say they think it’s a Fraudulent account!
I have car seats & my kids jackets inside of the vehicle. She say she will provide an address to pick it up from , a “list and found” and asked me to describe the items & also that I need to pay the balance before I’m provided with the address. I pleaded for someone to talk to but she said after payment my account will be reviewed. Why is there no other efficient, less problematic & inconvenient way to verify an account before lending out your vehicles? How would you feel if the dealership just locked your car because your card on file expired and your car note was a day late?? Yeah, thought so.

Needed service, bad execution

This app drives me crazy because Free2Move cars are SO useful and I can’t imagine not having them. HOWEVER, the app is poorly designed and buggy to the point that I’m not sure it’s worth the convenience.

The first thing is not a bug but just horrible (and exploitive?) design. When you enter and leave the car you have to start and end your trip on the app. Fair enough, but a) it takes up to a minute which is a very long time in 2023 and b) sometimes you forget to end the trip on your way out and free2move has no mechanism like a notification to remind you to end your trip. Instead they’ll just allow the car to sit unlocked on the street to be stolen and charge you for entire day of rental time (about $150).

The second thing is actually a bug- on a semi regular basis (maybe once every 5-7 trips) the car just isn’t where the app says it is. Considering I normally use free2move to get to work when I’m running late or the busses are not on schedule, this almost always makes me late to work AND costs me more because I have to call a Lyft which is twice as much.

I want this app to work so badly, it’s an urban public transit user’s dream. But between the costs of human error and app error it might actually be cheaper to just buy a beater and pay for car insurance.

Free2Move please fix these glaring issues!!

Hello, we understand your dissatisfaction and we are sorry. Our team does its best to make the user experience the best possible. Regarding the automatic blocking of the vehicle, this is done to prevent any theft but is not triggered immediately to allow users to resume the journey quickly. In relation to the location of the vehicle, we go up that. The Free2move team
