FTP Server 4+

Thank you for an FTP server for High Sierra, but ...

I have multiple IP cameras that I capture snapshot images from via FTP. I’ve grown tired of fighting Apple to reconfigure the server after every major upgrade, hopefully this App will always be kept up-to-date! As noted by others the only real work for me was to adjust the App's the server root and the devices destination folders, and change the server port back to 21. I suppose I should have left it at 2121 and changed the devices … maybe next time I have to make a change.

My only issue is that I’ve configured your software to use port 21, but after every restart it goes back to your default port of 2121, hence all my cameras are broken :(

Hi, please disable and re-enable the "Start FTP service on startup" option in "FTP Server Preferences -> Advanced" to make the changes take effect. Thank you!

Please update the spinning icon….

I just installed the app and it is easy to set up and just works. Two issues I would like to see resolved:

The fact that there are two different icons in the system tray makes no sense, and the fact that the one is animated and constantly spinning is distracting and not infomative. Can you please make that optional so it can turn it off? I know I can move one icon to the Dock, but the other stays there and spins, and spins, and spins….

Second - I use this to have a security camera upload recordings to my Mac - if the Mac crashes or reboots I have to type in a password to start the FTP server which is fine when I am there, but if I am not I will not get crucial recordings uploaded - can you please make that optional too so that it starts automatically if the computer reboots without havng to type in the password each time?

A fantastic little app!

I have a whole meangerie of vintage computers, ranging from the 1970's (Apple II series, Commodore stuff, TRS-80's, etc.) through late 1990's (Silicon Graphics, NeXT machines, HP PA-RISC workstations, various Macs, etc.). While many of them have built-in networking (or some kind of modern networking upgrades), few if any of them can successfully navigate the modern SSL-encrypted Web. For that reason, it's been incredibly handy to run a small internal FTP server on my home network, for all these fun old machines to tie into. This little app makes it painless and easy to do exactly that, and I'm really happy I found it. It's easy to configure, fast, lightweight and never crashes. Highly recommended!
