Heartbeatz connect app must be used with the heartbeatz device purchased at Heartbeatz broadcasts heart rate data measured by the Apple Watch® to any ANT+ receiver such as Peloton® bikes, Garmin head units and treadmills.

Heartbeatz setup is simple; mount heartbeatz to your bike or treadmill, start the heartbeatz connect app and pair to heartbeatz. Bikes and treadmills using proximity awareness will automatically associate with heartbeatz. Once associated, exercisers can start their workout and the bike or treadmill will display the heart rate data measured by the Apple Watch® in real-time.

By using Apple Health to record your workouts you can close your rings and have your heart rate data show up on your Peloton, Garmin, Heart Zones or in front of you on any treadmill or rowing machine supporting ANT+ heart rate monitors.

With a heartbeatz connected to your watch, you can also use your phone to broadcast BLE heart rate. This can be used if your bike or treadmill does not support ANT+.

It’s a good attempt to bypass Apple’s restrictive policies when it comes to 3rd party apps. Unfortunately, you have to jump through a few hoops to get it to work. You have to close out all other apps that monitor heart rate. And it takes a couple restarts to get the app to actually start working properly. My biggest gripe, however, is that Apple’s heart rate app doesn’t work unless I remove the heartbeatz app. One plus side is that spoke to a real person sans an indecipherable accent for technical support. In sum, the app works well once you force it to work.

Significant Usability Downgrade from Previous Version

I use this watch app almost every day and previously rated it five stars. I'm now rating it two stars. The latest app update continues to function fine, but the first watch screen no longer shows the information most needed by runners on the treadmill. Specifically, the first screen now shows the time, BPM, active cal, and total cal. The second screen shows the total mi, mph, pace, and percentage incline. Please make sure that, when selecting the Indoor Run workout option, the screens are either configurable via the phone app or ensure that the first screen shows total time, total mileage, mph, and optionally BPM. The other items can be moved to later screens. Also, lower priority, please make the two buttons pressed simultaneously function as pause just as the Apple Workout watch app does.

Works Great

So great to be able to use my Apple Watch with my profit treadmill. I use IFit and I am able to utilize the active pulse feature. You need to be sure to have your watch, phone, and dongle all connected prior to beginning the workout. It will also record in Apple Health. Only critique is it would be nice to have a compilation but... if it had a compilation that is probably just one more thing that could break or freeze things up!

I have used for two weeks now and only had it bug out one time when I did not connect and start everything prior to starting workout.
