Heartbeatz connect app must be used with the heartbeatz device purchased at https://store.npe-inc.com. Heartbeatz broadcasts heart rate data measured by the Apple Watch® to any ANT+ receiver such as Peloton® bikes, Garmin head units and treadmills.
Heartbeatz setup is simple; mount heartbeatz to your bike or treadmill, start the heartbeatz connect app and pair to heartbeatz. Bikes and treadmills using proximity awareness will automatically associate with heartbeatz. Once associated, exercisers can start their workout and the bike or treadmill will display the heart rate data measured by the Apple Watch® in real-time.
By using Apple Health to record your workouts you can close your rings and have your heart rate data show up on your Peloton, Garmin, Heart Zones or in front of you on any treadmill or rowing machine supporting ANT+ heart rate monitors.
With a heartbeatz connected to your watch, you can also use your phone to broadcast BLE heart rate. This can be used if your bike or treadmill does not support ANT+.
Now supporting the North Pole Engineering Runn... treadmill sensor. When you use the heartbeatz watch app with the Runn... your heart rate data from the built in health app integration is sent through the Runn... to your favorite app supporting BLE and your workout automatically gets saved on your watch as an indoor run. This feature will require the Runn... to be updated to version 3.1.8 or higher to support the feature. Use the Configurez app to update your Runn...
When connected to a Runn the treadmill data is saved to your Activity app along with your heart rate.
Your phone can now be a BLE heart rate broadcaster!!!
When a heartbeatz device is connected to the watch, the BLE broadcaster feature is enable in the phone so you can send your heart rate from the health app integration to a BLE enabled fitness console or app supporting BLE connections.
You can now choose to Save/Discard/Resume your health app integrated workout when your select END in the watch app. The watch app integrates with the Health app on your phone to track your workouts and close you activity rings.

Works Great!! But...
I have always wanted to use my Apple Watch as a heart rate monitor for my cycling computer but there had never been a solution.
Then North Pole Engineering introduced their HeatBeatz dongle. I think it was mainly designed for Peloton uses but works perfect with my Garmin Edge 530. Not much else to say. After the initial pairing the first time, you just start the app on the watch and the heart rate info is on the Garmin.
After using this for a while I've noticed an issue. When using this in combination with another app (I use a Garmin), Apple Workouts and Health record activity from both apps which doubles the actual workload. Hopefully they can fix this soon.
This is a terrific app, I use the Apple Watch heartbeatz app almost every single day. I use it to read my NPE Runn device, write it to Apple Fitness, which then syncs with Strava via the separate iOS HealthFit app. I have tested turning on the BLE Support option on the heartbeatz iPhone app, and it does seamlessly send my heart rate to my Proform 12.0 TT Treadmill.
I have four suggestions to turn what's already a five star app even higher. First, allow the two buttons on the Apple Watch when simultaneously pressed to pause the workout, just as the Apple Watch Workout app does. When you're on the treadmill and have to quickly pause, swiping over, looking down at the watch, and pressing the pause button can be difficult to do quickly. Second, have an option to automatically pause when not running like the Apple Watch Workout app. Third, in the heartbeatz iPhone app, have the setup instructions readily present for the iPhone app and watch app. Highlight how close you have to be to the NPE Runn device for initial setup. Fourth, Strava's default sync with Apple Fitness seems to have trouble syncing what was written by the heartbeatz app; the third-party HeathFit app doesn't have this trouble. If you can get Strava native syncing to work, it would be helpful. I suspect it's the default name of the workout that is causing challenges.
Overall, thank you for creating and maintaining this app!
Works for Garmin 830
Worked right off the bat. I noticed the doubling issue in Apple Health. So, I turned off Heartbeatz as a data source for workouts in the Health app.
I found that the Heartbeatz app on the Apple Watch stopped picking up the heartbeat and had to revert back the setting. No it works fine. But, I’m back to the doubling issue.
I’ll live with this since I hated wearing a heart rate strap.
