HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 Series
Just purchased from Costco yesterday. The set-up was very easy, no issues. I did print one page and the original was a folded page and I noticed that where it was folded, the copy has 2 black lines in both places where the fold was on the original. Maybe I need to adjust the black/white darkness for that to not show on future copies. Aside from that, so far, so ggod. Now let's see how color looks when printed, ha, ha! I like techie items but this is my first wireless printer believe it or not that I've set-up! Had them with wireless capability but never used it. I've always played it safe using the cord to plug in from printer to computer. This should be fun!!!!
Poor support for non-working app
When it worked, it was great. After the most recent update (I assume), the app would immediately crash when I tried to open it. Re-started everything, re-installed the app, still no luck. I had to use the virtual assistant and ask just the right questions in order to access a live chat, since the virtual chat couldn't solve my problem. To do a live chat, I had to still have my printer under warrantly (lucky me, it still was), even though it was an app issue, and I don't think it should have applied. The live chat person directed me to another service. Note--the chat service was not open on the weekend, but the phone number was. I trouble-shooted with the person on the phone. She told me I had to directly contact Apple about a compatability error (I don't think that is something that would work), or I could talk to another group to help. I explained this to the next person, who told me that in order to fix the problem I would have to order a new service (I think it was something like My HP Friends) which would cost starting close to $50 a month. I told him no thank you. Not counting the virtual assistant and live chats, I spent an hour 40 minutes on the phone. Although I learned some work-arounds while we were trouble-shooting to see where the actual problem was, I'm still in the same place with the app not working.
watch out for paper subscription sign up!!
I'm a Mac user and the default browser used to set up was Safari. The set up was simple and straight forward. I ran into a problem when I redeemed my eight months of ink. I was directed to a page where I had to sign up for a paper subscription (no option not to), but I have no need for a paper delivery. When I tried to go back, the install crashed. Not sure if this is going to be a problem later, but it does seem like my printer wasn't installed "correctly" although it does seem to be working. Also not sure if my ink delivery was properly went through. In conclusion, if/when you get to the paper subscription, I'm not sure if it would be best to do what I did and just stop the install and reboot it or to simply sign up for the paper and then go out of your way to cancel it later. Either way, there should have been an option to not sign up for the paper and also complete the install. It's not cool HP to force us to sign up for additional payments to properly install the program.
