Lunar Phase Widget is a popular iOS app and widget that shows up to date information about the Moon. The app elegantly shows the current moon phase, moonrise and moonset, as well as when the next full moon, new moon and eclipse is and more! The Moon is rendered in real-time using realistic lightning and with a minimalistic approach to design and experience.
Swipe left or right anywhere in the main app to check the moon phase and other moon data for any date, past or future.
In the clean and uncluttered calendar view, you can see the moon phase for every day of the month. You can also tap any date to bring up more details for this date. The calendar can also show the Lunar Zodiac for each day.
The app supports the new iOS 14 home screen widgets and displays the same information in both a compact and expanded form. Add the widgets right on to your home screen!
To add widgets to your home screen, long press on an empty space on your home screen and tap the + button at the top. Search the list for "Lunar Phase Widget".
The app also support notifications for Full Moon, New Moon and Lunar Eclipses.

Full Moon Perfection
This is by far the best app I have tried for tracking the phases of the moon, and it is now officially the only one I use. The interface is clean and beautiful, whether on the main screen, which displays a beautiful rendering of the moon as it currently appears in the sky, or in the calendar view, which makes it easy to see when the different phases will occur. A simple tap on a particular date will display the moon on that day and includes all the details I’d ever need to know. The only thing initially missing that I requested was to be able to see the precise time when the full moon reaches its apex, and the developer is extremely responsive and added that data in the very next update. As if this all wasn’t enough, the app also includes an amazing selection of beautiful widgets in various sizes to be used on your Home Screen. I can’t recommend this app and it’s developer enough. The pro version is well worth the money.
This is hands down the best looking moon widget! The moon photo is breathtaking and a joy to have on my home screen!
I’m always looking for the moon as a southwest dweller. The small widget has the moon phase & rise/set which makes it’s minimal and stunning. Quick touch and opens the app to more information.
The bonus is having the ability to change the background color of my widget! Very responsive developer. Thank you!

Thank you for the feedback and suggestion! I like the idea of a small widget with rise and set times. Will include this in the next update 🙂
Moved previously accessible features behind paywall
I’ve been using this app for a little over a year. The UI was great and contained all the info you could want from this app. After using the widget for a year it turns out that the widget I’ve been using is now part of the “pro” subscription. Indeed many of the things that made this app so great are now stuck behind a paywall, making the base app essentially worthless.
With this in mind, I have to say there are better alternatives out there with much prettier UI that perform better than this app for the same or less cost. I understand that the developers want to get compensated for their work, and that’s fair, but turning previously free features into subscriber only features without adding any functionality is a lazy way getting paid and a sure fire way of losing customers.
Developer Response ,
I’m sorry to hear you lost access to the widgets you previously could access. This is not intended, and is a bug. Please contact me via the in app support e-mail and I’ll help you get this sorted.
