Great App and Great Support

I am fairly active individual and have tried many apps over time to track my Sailing, kayaking, boating, paddleboarding. I am not one to pay subscriptions but this is so reasonably and has most items from other apps I am looking for when I am on the water. We moved 4 yrs again to a lake area and my other gps app, although it works is no longer supported and I hate the interface. I realized my apply watch workout app is sadly lacking anything really useful. I admit were a few small things but the support on this app has been great and all my issues resolved. This works with Apple health and my Apple Watch. I love the interactive map and all the charts and data. I have used it mostly for paddle boarding and once for sailing. Kayak season is coming so I will give it try shortly. I like the Stroke data, now that decimalPlace is fixed. I will be trying the live tracking next time I go without my husband. I have tried another popular app but it is much more expensive and less features. I have. Few things in my wish list like Total strokes for the workout in addition to the splits. I also think for boating and sailing. Waypoints would be nice and automatic pause when stopped for a period of time. Too difficult to fiddle with watch while paddling to remember to start and stop. I give it an A overall.

I purchased the pro version which allows you to set a count down timer for the start of a race. When I race I-20’s we use a 5 minute starting sequence. When I race windsurfers we sometimes use a 3 minute sequence. You can choose any length you like. It then starts tracking you while the time is counting down for the start while tapping you on the wrist when the start is getting close. It drops a pin on the map when you start the starting sequence and then drops a pin on the map when the flag go up “the actual start of the race” then drops a pin when you finish, which you have to press the stop buy when you finish. It lays the tracks down on a map with color indicating your speed. FYI, it shows the map stuff on my iPhone when I get back from sailing. This was all tracked with the Apple Watch 3. I can also easily send all the info to my iPad using airdrop. For me, it’s a great app for racing sail boats and windsurfing. Really easy to use. I Highly recommend it. I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt I had to because I like this app so much. Can’t wait to try it out this winter when I go Iceboating and achieve speeds near 70 mph.

This is a fantastic app to keep track of your performance when doing water-based sports, regardless if it is sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing or paddle sports like kayaking, rowing or SUP’ing. I use it mostly for kayaking and surf skiing. The app on the Apple Watch can be used stand-alone to track speed, heartrate, distance etc. The app then syncs to the iPhone app automatically when in reach again. This means that I do not have to take my phone on the water. On my iPhone and iPad I have access to the exact GPS route on a map, speed and other statistics I collected while paddling. The PRO version is also well worth it, it gives you access to detailed weather, wind and tide forecasts and provides seamless syncing with Strava (your route and stats get uploaded to Strava with the correct activity classification automatically). It works very well; the support is outstanding, with frequent app updates and feature additions.This is a must app for anyone serious about water-based sports!

I signed up for the Waterspeed Pro Version when it came out having used a variety of other applications to track my Hobie sailing over the years. Nothing used before compares to Waterspeed. After each sail, the statistics automatically download to my iPhone and iPad and I spend the most enjoyable time looking at how I performed based on wind and wave conditions on the lake. I can compare to other sails completed as my goal, every time I go out, is to optimize distance and speed. Originally, I signed up monthly thinking that I would not pay for access when not sailing in Lake Michigan during cold weather months. But going back and reviewing the charts and maps will bring warmth and sunshine into cold weather days ahead and build the excitement for next season. I also now use the application for kayaking and sailing smaller boats. I highly recommend this application and look forward to Max and the Waterspeed team continuing to improve the app, making it more exciting to use. John Karver Evanston, IL
