It was an okay app when I first bought the kiln controller—very simple just to monitor the progress — however, you can’t make any changes to programs and the keypad on the computer panel is hard to type on so it would be helpful if that could be easily done on the app. The new version of the app is buggy in the sense that if you change your brightness settings (dark color instead of light background) then all the words disappear until you switch your phone to a bright background setting. I also didn’t like the new ads but they seem to be gone now with the latest update. It would be useful if we had a menu to pick from in order learn how to do certain things like updating the kiln firmware and other general questions rather than hunt down the paper manual. Even though it’s buggy, it’s still useful to keep an eye on the firing while you aren’t next to the kiln.

Update I’m giving this app 5 stars. I reviewed it before when I had only run a test and came down hard because I didn’t think it offered enough info, boy was I wrong. Now that I have fired the kiln I can see that my criticism was baseless. I can see now that I get the temperature from all three thermocouples and it indicates which segment I’m in along with the set point. I do look forward to the app they (Bartlett Instruments) has said is coming that will allow me to make a change of a firing on the fly. I understand they will charge for that version while this one was free. I will be happy to buy that although I’m not sure I would be interested if the new app comes with a monthly fee.I was very excited about this but ultimately was disappointed. I have been an evangelist of Bartlett Instruments for years now. I am fortunate that my hubby considers taking the wiring diagram and building the controller from the board a fun project. Fast forward to discovering that the new Genesis 3140 controllers were WiFi capable and there was a phone app and I thought I died and gone to heaven. Don’t get me wrong the this controller is unbelievable in the features it offers, and the ease of the user interface is exquisite. This is truly the next level of kiln control. The phone app though (KilnAid) doesn’t include some vital information while it gives me a temperature reading for each of the thermocouples it doesn’t show which segment I’m in or what that segments temperature (Set Point) that the programs is shooting for.I wouldn’t mind paying for an app that will allow me to make those changes through WiFi but until that is available why not at least give us all the information to make the app a useful tool. I’m disappointed that the app doesn’t allow more complete monitoring of what is happening in the kiln.

Holy cow! Where do I start. I guess this app has been out at least a year now so there’s no real excuse for this app. I can’t scroll down to see all the firing segments if you have more than 6. Some screens the back button doesn’t work so you get stuck and have to kill the app and start over. Graph doesn’t update properly, sometimes it’ll show the green dot where are are in the firing process, sometimes it doesn’t. The tool bar at the bottom covers up some information and won’t scroll properly to see what’s behind it. Tool bar also just downy work on some screens. I could keep going. Hire a developer off fiverr and get these bugs fixed.

I just got a new kiln and was very excited about this app existing (an added bonus). It’s very convenient to check the progress of the kiln when I step away from it.I enjoy using it for the most part, but I really would love it if the app had a feature where you could check previous firings. As a beginner kiln user, I would love to see the data from before as reference as a way to track what settings worked/haven’t worked for my ceramic pieces. Also, seeing the graph, the one used on the genesis screen, through the app would also be a great progress to see.For now I’m just writing everything down, but still would love to have data on the app itself.
