Simple and Difficult
I, like most American women, have been very conscious about my weight since I was about 11 years old. I’ve thought I was overweight my whole life. I have counted calories, macros, points, drank my meals, and done everything I could think of or that people told me I should do to be “healthy”. Even at lower weights, I was never satisfied and could never keep it off for long. It wasn’t until I did the research, science-backed research over anecdotal evidence, that I learned that diets don’t work. You can’t fight biology. Eat when you’re ready, stop when you’re satisfied, listen and indulge in your bodies cravings. It’s so simple. And it’s SO HARD! I already had the knowledge and the principles of intuitive eating. I was having a heck of a time putting them into practice. And Peace with Food has helped me with that. I love the push notifications. I’ve been “dieting” for 20 years and can’t always interpret the signals my body is giving me. But every half an hour a push notification reminds me to check in with my body. It’s still hard, but it’s easier with the app. Worth every penny, I find myself thinking about food less, rarely over eating (a big issue of mine), and enjoying food. I will shout about intuitive eating and this app until everyone I know starts to shun the pervasive “diet culture” too.
By FAR the best mindful eating App!!
I never write reviews (ever) but I felt I really needed to with this app. I have had now for just about 2 week and cannot even begin to explain the peace around food that I am experiencing. About a month ago I really started noticing my best friend’s attitude and behaviors dramatically change around food, she simply seemed calmer and she had lost about 5 pounds. I asked what diet she was on and she told me that she was completely done dieting forever and that she had been using this new app called Peace With Food for about 3 months. I was so drawn to experience the calm around food that she was that I downloaded it too and I am SO GLAD I DID!! Wow. It is a complete paradigm shift into a simple and natural way to be in tune with your hunger and fullness cues and actually chose and taste food as your body asks for it. It has made me intentional about being present (it gives you these great notifications on your phone and watch) with how I am feeling throughout the day. I have tasted and enjoyed food these past weeks more than I can ever even remember in my life.
Highly recommend it for anyone diving into mindful and intuitive eating!
This app is the best $10 I have spent! I have had trouble figuring out my hunger levels, which often resulted in a massive blood sugar drop when I got hungry. This app helps me to stay in tune with my hunger levels throughout the day. Even in just a few days of using it, I have started learning the subtle hints my body gives that I am getting hungry so that I can prepare better with a snack before I get ravenously hungry. The app also helps me to stay in tune at mealtime; I am more mindful of how full I’m getting and making sure I enjoy every bite. The chart seems so simple, but it is so incredibly helpful! I love that it is just tracking hunger and fullness, vs calories and stuff that remind me of the diet mentality. I am focused on providing adequate fuel for my body, which is giving me more sustained energy both mentally and physically throughout the day. Thank you!!!!
