more This app is phenomenal. Smooth and slick interface and design that is VERY rare to see in most astronomy apps today with this amount of robust features. Regardless if you have casual interest in just pointing your phone at the sky to see what’s up there at night or your an avid astronomer with a telescope who does visual and / or imaging this app serves both categories equally well! This type of app / interface should set the example for others! Great work and in astronomy this is so rare to say but it’s actually a fair AND affordable price! Great work!

I paid for a version of Luminos 9 still have the same phone and operating system and now it no longer works which I feel is pretty lame especially after paying for it. All of this subscription stuff is nothing but a chincy way of getting constant money from people. I used to use the app all of the time and now I can’t without paying for a subscription. To me that is lame and I am sad that you took that route. Now I have a useless app that just crashes whenever I start it. Boo to that what a shame that you made such a great app and now I can’t even use it.... it’s a sad day for me and my daughter at least let my paid app still work... that makes no sense to me. Last thing I need is to be paying a subscription for something. It’s pretty lame that I can spend money on a great app and now I can’t even use it anymore. I feel like I got ripped off.
Developer Response Hello there! I'd like to help you with updating Luminos 9. Although it's no longer available for sale in the App Store, it's still fully functional. To update it, please follow these steps:1. Open the App Store on your device.2. Go to your App Store account and open the "Purchased Apps" list.3. Search for "Luminos" in your purchased apps.4. Once you find it, select it to initiate the update process. Please note that you might need to delete the old copy of the app before you can install the updated version from your "Purchased" list. Keep that in mind as you proceed. It can still be installed on all of your devices and it still supports Family Sharing so your spouse and kids can also install it, but they have to look in your purchased apps list to find it because I no longer offer it for sale in the App Store. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at support@wobbleworks.com. I'm more than happy to assist you. Please note that I don't often monitor reviews for support questions, so it's faster to contact me directly via email for a faster response.Thank you for using Luminos, - John

Lifetime member and worth every cent!As an avid astronomy buff, I have tried just about all of the sky map apps over the last decade or so and this is still my favorite and just keeps getting better. So easy to find what I am looking for without having to repeatedly bring up multiple menus, etc..This latest update addressed a small oversight in past versions; we now have distances for globular clusters.CheerZ!

Really? I bought Luminos because it wasn’t a subscription. Now features I paid for are subscription only. I fully agree with the other reviewers, this is terrible customer service and deceptive. I paid good money for this app because it had extensive features for scope control. Now I find that those features which I paif for are locked behind a paywall? To the developers: this is thievery, you stole our money and broke our promises. Reading your responses to other reviewers, I can say: I wish I never paid you money; you call the truth and concerns of your customers ‘lies.’ I hope you lose all your customers, never get a single $ for your crooked subscriptions, and go out of business.
Developer Response Luminos Pro is a separate app and has always been based on subscriptions. You're thinking of Luminos, which is also here on the app store and I've kept it updated so it still works with the current versions of iOS.

Additionally, the ATNF Pulsar Catalog (psrcat) has been upgraded to version 2.5.1, and the General Catalog of Variable Stars (GCVS) has been updated to version 5.1.
Several fixes improve the app’s functionality. GCVS designations now consistently display the correct constellation, and notes load and save properly. "Beautiful Pairing" news items provide accurate rise and set times, and searching for "double double" now correctly locates Epsilon Lyra. Finally, habitable zone calculations have been enhanced, especially for M-class stars like Trappist-1.
12.0 02/03/2025
This update introduces several exciting new features and enhancements to enrich the experience for both amateur and professional astronomers. The most significant addition is support for Stellarium landscapes. This feature allows you to view photographic landscapes by traveling to the locations where they were taken, and you can also select one of these landscapes to display at your home location. Over twenty landscapes are included for download within the app, and you can add more landscapes from online repositories. Additionally, the update includes bug fixes, new translations, and various tweaks throughout the app to improve overall performance and usability.

I'm pleased to present the latest update for Luminos Pro, which incorporates an array of innovative features and improvements designed to enhance your astronomical observing experience.
A standout addition is the new Augmented Reality (AR) mode in motion tracking. This feature overlays graphics onto live video, making it simpler to identify celestial objects and pinpoint observing targets. There are two AR modes for you to explore: one where graphics appear behind physical obstacles like buildings and trees, and another where the graphics overlay everything. While the former has a unique appeal, please note that ARKit's object detection may be less accurate in low light conditions, hence the latter mode is recommended for night-time usage. The classic Virtual Reality mode remains available and can be selected at the top of the screen during motion tracking.
Alongside this, new target "focus" modes have been incorporated in motion tracking, enabling you to highlight specific categories such as planets & stars, deep space, or satellites, while minimizing or removing other objects. The ability to manually adjust the compass alignment to better synchronize the graphics with the real sky has also been added to all motion tracking modes.
I am also introducing the All-Access Pass, which offers you all the advanced features of Luminos Pro for a one-time payment, eliminating the need for subscriptions. To celebrate this, I am offering a 25% discount for those who've subscribed for a year or more, and a limited-time 10% introductory discount for everyone. The pass is compatible with Apple's Family Sharing, meaning a single purchase covers your whole family.
The user interface for custom locations has been revamped for a more user-friendly experience. Your custom locations are stored in iCloud Drive and will sync across all your devices. The location files are in JSON format, and you can generate your own files, placing them in the iCloud Drive > Luminos > Locations folder for automatic recognition by the app. The app can now also automatically adjust its time zone to match the selected location, simplifying target finding and event viewing for different places.
This update also includes numerous other features like labels on the celestial poles, a re-designed pointer for offscreen objects, automatic labels for bright satellites, the ability to filter eclipse lists by eclipse type, and local times on eclipse map popups. Performance and battery life have been improved, and numerous bugs have been addressed, including random crashes, distance errors to galaxies, and enhanced detection for visible satellite flyovers. You can find a comprehensive list of new features and bug fixes in the in-app release notes.
I hope you'll enjoy exploring these new features and improvements. Your feedback is always welcome, and greatly contributes to the continuous enhancement of Luminos Pro.
Clear skies,
- John

10.5.2 06/13/2023
I'm thrilled to present the latest update for Luminos Pro, which incorporates an array of innovative features and improvements designed to enhance your astronomical observing experience.
Clear skies,
- John
