The Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services mobile application improves customer access to available products in its stores. The mobile application will allow customers (ages 21 and older) to quickly find products in the store(s) most convenient to them. App users are able to search for products by category, name, price, bottle size, user ratings, and availability by store. Additionally, users may opt to create a user profile where they can save their favorite items and stores, as well as to make private notes on each individual product. Once a product is selected by the user at the store nearest them, the user may then receive directions to that store from their current location through the primary map application installed on their device.

Can’t Search by Category

I wish they’d add a way to search by category, like rum, whisky, tequila for spirits, or lager, stout, ale for beers. Nothing too in-depth, just the basic categories.The search function doesn’t work right: when you search for “Rum” it only comes up with Bacardi. Searching for “tequila“ comes up with nothing. Easy fix, I’m guessing.

I love the ability to add favorites! Favorite items, but also favorite stores. The search feature is a little cumbersome as some of the product names are truncated or abbreviated. To search a single item may take several attempts. I would love the ability to special order directly from the app from the search page.

No filter options makes it useless

I actually think the website is pretty good to search for particular items, but it isn’t very compatible with mobile browsers. So when I heard that the DABC has an app, I was super excited. Downloaded the app just to find it is completely useless. There are no filtering options to narrow down a search, so you’re stuck scrolling through thousands of line items. If they fixed this, it could be a pretty decent app.

Scanner doesn’t work. Location services doesn’t work. No one cares what the State Store # is. Who keeps track of that? When I select my favorite bottle of wine and the list of stores is the store number, it becomes useless, or at least becomes inconvenient to have to google the store number. Take the time to really build this app. If Utah DABC can’t put in the effort y’all should just turn it off.
