I am a 16 year old and I have really bad hand writing.Upon getting a new iPad I was determined to fix my bad hand writing, Thus I found Writey. I was kinda skeptical about it with the subscription and all, but after doing the free trial, I learned that it is much better than I anticipated. This app allows you to fix your handwriting at your own pace and it will tell you exactly how you should be writing well cute little animation, I have a really enjoyed learning cursive and learning how to fix my handwriting to 10/10!!

I was originally looking for a way to journal using the Apple Pencil in a true journal app when I came across this app. I decided to try it out because my handwriting is a bit horrid! Anyway, I’m glad you can kick the tires for free to an extent. The only issues I have, and it’s a bit confusing, is that the app presents the writing as courses. Yet, within a course that you choose, there seems to be different fonts. For instance, in the cursive section - there’s simple cursive, cursive and then cursive pro. All of these seem to indicate a progression BUT all of the fonts are different. So if you practice simple cursive for a period of time and train your muscle memory, then go to the cursive - the fonts don’t seem the same…so on and so forth. This would be more organic if the app had so selections of fonts (which is a whole other thing because you can only write in the couple they designate), then all that you write whether neat, simple or pro would follow the same font styling and helping your muscle memory to develop. A word about the languages. I am intermediate Spanish speaker, it would be nice if I could pick a font and practice writing in any language. Lastly, it would also be nice if you could select more script languages. I’m learning Hebrew and Greek (survey this language right now) - I’d love to use this app for that as well. Hate to be critical because this seems like a good app and I would certainly pay for it! But as is, I would probably only use it to a degree as opposed to what it could be so a user like me could get so much more out of it.

I bought this app to practice writing on my tablet. I am starting to keep a handwritten journal on my tablet as I travel. I am afraid that after learning to type and after 20 years of schooling my handwriting has become quite illegible. Trying to write on a screen was even worse. I am only part way thought the basic Cursive lessons, but I am quite pleased. I realize now that my bad handwriting has mainly to do with unused muscles in my hand. I am practicing my handwriting with this app everyday and see a marked improvement. I am a little old lady, and I don’t want to have the chicken scratch handwriting, which I equate with being a little old lady. I particularly like the feature of adding your own text to practice. I put in several phrases, which I have trouble with, in my second language. As I trace out the letters and words, I am memorizing the phrases and where to put the accent marks. I would recommend this app for anyone looking learn cursive writing or anyone trying to improve their handwriting.

I have to say this is a very decent app, it had exactly what I was looking for, English print practice writing, where many of the others just do cursive writing this does both which is nice, the shapes and lines are fun and interesting but the circles are super hard to get right, they don’t even need to be perfect circles which is nice but you still have to get it in a certain way or it doesn’t count, I almost gave up on it XD maybe that can be adjusted to make it a bit easier? Love all the free stuff to do that’s available, it really lets you get a fee for the app and figuring out if it’s one you would want to pay the subscription for and I for one think I will when I am able don’t know when that will be but yes, I like this app and I recommend others who want to better there penmanship skills to try this out, you have nothing to lose and possibly a lot to gain with this app!!
