I’ve been a loyal Xoom user for nearly a decade, and it has consistently impressed me with its speed and efficiency—completing transactions in just two hours. However, after opening an NRI account with ICICI Bank, I found myself compelled to use their transfer app. Unfortunately, the experience has been far from satisfactory.The login process is unnecessarily time-consuming, often feeling like an eternity compared to the seamless experience I had with Xoom. Even more frustrating is the transfer speed: it takes a full five business days for funds to be credited to my account, a significant step backward in convenience and efficiency.

App - very slow. Lot of UI bugs, for e.g, if you click on the bell icon (alerts), there is no easy way to come back to the Home Screen and worst everything lines up awkwardly on the phone screen. Very little information (for e.g, no mention of transfer limits)… and all this in the age of XOOM, Remitly, etc. Wow!Support - You have to call Support to know about transfer limits, if you exceed $5K, then you’re in for a ride. Transaction involves, doing a wire transfer by physically going to the local bank that too in the age of Covid. Are you kidding me, now look at your competitors… there is no way to increase limit without making multiple transactions. the only reason I even attempted to try using M2I is because every time I call support regarding my NRI account, I get asked about this service (and of course the numerous emails). ICICI bank proclaims they are the number 1 banking system in India. However, their app is little to useless, and their support is substandard. Every time you call customer support, it needs with the rep asking “would you recommend ICICI to your friends & family?” Go figure…

This is probably one of the worst service and mobile app combination I have seen for money transfers. Initially I couldn't get to transfer because it was constantly not letting me transfer any amount even though express feature was enabled. Then new update broke the app constantly showing couldn't connect to server. I reinstalled multiple times and still same issue. Latest version seems to have fixed it. But when i really needed it, it didn't work. There's far better services like wise, zoom, xe etc out there. This is a completely redundant service and provides nothing better (and mostly worse experience) compared to competitors. Also, the ux is not user friendly. If they ever rework and make this app and service backend better, I might reconsider using this.

I have used ICICI in the past to transfer money. After a break tried to use them again. Their policies and customer service have gone downhill since - almost at a level of being fraudulent. Tried to transfer money - the transfer was put on hold with no notification - had to call multiple times to understand the issue - finally they asked for documentation - sent the documentation - they cancelled the transfer and held the money for 60 days before returning it citing policy - and then returned it through wire transfer resulting in fees. Effectively, no service provided, costed a tone of time, and incurred wire transfer costs. Please use other services that are more ethical and have customer friendly policies. These guys are frauds.
