Description

ResponsiBLUE is an app for University of Michigan students, faculty, and staff to help protect the entire U-M community and reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The app includes a daily self-screening tool for community members to use before entering U-M buildings.

The screening tool asks a series of questions based on CDC guidance related to COVID-19 symptoms and contact with others. Based on the responses, users will either see a green screen with a check mark, indicating they can enter a U-M building, or a red screen, indicating that they should stay home and take specific actions based on University guidelines.

Screening results expire after 18 hours.

This app was developed by U-M Information and Technology Services in partnership with the Office of Research and University of Michigan leadership.

Cool but useless

The UX of the app is great, very easy to use!

That being said, this accomplishes nothing. There’s no accountability or verification of the answers someone selects are valid, so it’s basically synonymous to the “terms and agreements” page that everyone says they read but no one does.

Seems to me like a way to say UM is slowing the spread without investing much capital. One idea is to have students tested 1-2 times weekly with the saliva test and have the results sync up to the app and use that to access campus buildings.

Unpractical

It is not practically designed. I have to click on the least intuitive part of the screen to fill out my survey, and once it is done, use the “back” arrow to go back to the green check mark. It can be much better designed in my opinion.

Easy To Use

I use this every day. It takes five seconds to complete. Reliable and easy to use.
