Snippety improves productivity by providing quick access to your snippets. Keep there often used sentences, code fragments, mail templates, test data, or anything you like.

Snippety works flawlessly with every text field! Just press ⌘⇧Space, find your snippet, and hit ↩. You can also define your keywords and paste snippets by just typing without even opening the app!

Snippety can also simulate keys which is very useful to autofill forms and much more. You can even simulate app-specific shortcuts to automate repetitive tasks.

Advanced users can improve snippets by using scripts to automate everyday operations on text. Take advantage of limitless possibilities and integrate Snippety even with translation services or weather forecasts!

Key Features:
• Similar behavior to Spotlight. By just pressing ⌘⇧Space you can access your snippets from any place.
• Create templates using customizable placeholders. Snippety supports an auto-incrementing number, calculated date, clipboard content, command-line script, file content, selectable date, selectable value, selected text, text transformation, and text variable.
• Syntax highlighting supporting 50+ languages.
• Rich Text (RTF) support.
• Markdown preview (macOS 12+).
• Advanced scripting. Use command-line placeholders to transform selected text or clipboard content using bash scripts.
• Insert snippets in any text field by just typing previously defined keywords. Your snippet will be pasted without even opening the app.
• Simulate app-specific shortcuts or key combinations directly in snippets. Use it to auto-fill forms or even automate some repetitive tasks. Anything you can do using a keyboard can be simulated in your snippet.
• Adjust Snippety to your needs using many configurable options.
• Use the Quick Access Menu to show the context menu with your favorite snippets.
• Dedicated iOS app to give you access to snippets from your mobile phone or tablet.
• iCloud and shared file synchronization.
• Auto Backup to keep your snippets safe.
• Minimalistic and beautiful design adjusted to light and dark mode.

What’s New

Version 4.4.34

• Added a "cursor" placeholder that automatically moves your text cursor to the selected place in your template (experimental).
• Added a feature to change the default search bar behavior. Now you can set it to search everywhere, not only in names. (Appearance preferences).
• Added a feature to show Snippety centered in an active app (Appearance preferences).
• Added a feature to paste snippets to an app that was active when Snippety appeared. This resolves an issue when you switch between apps while filling in placeholders (Appearance preferences).
• Added "$" search bar modifier to search by name. Useful if you changed the default search bar behavior.
• Added the "Duplicate" option to the snippet's context menu.
• Fixed marking Snippety clipboard data as auto-generated to avoid showing it in clipboard managers.
• Fixed shortcuts for keyboards using other than English alphabet.
• Minor bug fixes and stability improvements.

Change of Opinion

Initially, I was super annoyed with the app (well any app that does it) for bugging me to write a review...

I like to spend some time using an app, on my own time, to see how it fits into my workflow, before I leave a review.. Well I spent some time, so I'm updating the review..

The app has become one of the must have tools in my daily workflow. I don't really use it how most folks would, but it is still super helpful.

I use it alot for keeping templates in for when I'm entering data into company Bug Tracker (JIRA.) It helps to keep each entry tidy and following the same outline so its easy to find the information I need.

I spent a while looking for an app, that would not only do text expanding, but also let me input custom text as needed because the expanded text is not always the same. Especially when your filling out bug tickets.

I could accomplish this in Alfred as well, but I wanted an stand-alone app, to keep my work related expansions seperate, and to make it a bit easier to set new ones up, as Alfred can be a bit time consuming sometimes.

As for the developer, he actually takes suggestions on what might help inprove the overall experience with the app. Two of mine made it into this last release, and they are a big help in speeding up my workflow.

Could be great

This is probably the only apple wide snippet manager app out there that supports syntax highlighting for all the major languages and a bit of automation. It’s kind of like what would happen if snippets lab and text expander had a baby. The developer is also clearly talented. It’s a shame then that it isn’t more widely known and is now starting to look like just another hobby project. It would’ve been great if some kind of keyboard function like yoink or Gladys was included along with shortcuts and widgets. Maybe the icon could use a makeover too. Together, these features would make this app certainly top notch.

An essential part of my toolbox

Truly, it's hard to imagine going back to a pre-Snippety life.

An incredibly powerful and flexible tool for managing all types of commonly typed text and text manipulations. Admittedly, the initial learning curve took some time, but it was absolutely worth the effort. I would also add that the developer is very responsive and helpful.

Snippety is now on my short list of apps that I install without a second thought any time I set up a new device (both personal and professional).

I've used similar tools in the past, but none of them really stuck. Such a simple concept, but executed beautifully - it still feels like magic sometimes.

Thank you very much for your amazing review! Feedback like that always boosts energy and justifies all the effort put into this project. Enjoy the application and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions or ideas!
