Great game

I love it I would suggest making the Calvary bad at defense and better at attacking because right now I just use the Calvary instead of the infantry because there’s so much better. I would also make the sepoy better at defend that would give you an attacking unit and defending unit. That would give each of them a purpose. Also is there anyway we could get a historic world were the borders are historically accurate. I would love that also for Europe nations and American nations that aren’t the Indians or africans could you rename the sepoy to militia.

Addition
Hello I just thought of this I know you probably don’t have enough time to complete this right away but I would love to see an American revolution scenario although you would have to make some new unit visuals for the British and the American and the other European nations and possibly the world. I would suggest adding a new level to the tech tree so the Americans and the Europeans can still start a level ahead of the Indians and the Africans and Chinese. I would love to see the classic British redcoat and the Americans and the Spain and the French. It would open up the possibility for so many different scenarios for you.

Hi, thanks for your review. Yes, you are spot on. My intention was to make these units as you had said, but after constant balancing they changed. The Cavalry at level 0 are very strong, but as levels increase the difference between cavalry and infantry narrows. The sepoys need a tweaking too. I chose the word 'sepoy' because that is what the British called their Indian troops while they had occupied India. I will create some historic world scenarios, sounds like a good idea. Thanks again. REVIEW IS FOR RETURNING PLAYERS OF SERIES, IF NEW JUST PLAY AND ENJOY

While I love this series of games (if it’s technically a series), I think this one is a very mixed entry. There’s a lot of good and bad, so I’ll go over it individually.

Good changes from French and Indian war:
-More scenarios
-Entire world for the map
-Technological generations showing the progress of history
-Combat seems more consistent as to what army will win which engagement
-Terrain matters more in baffles

Unnecessary/bad changes
-Simplified combat, you can no longer fire on an enemy to weaken them. Now you must just clash it out by throwing what you have at them.
-Other nations really want to go to war with you, even if they’re in no position to do so and you haven’t provoked them. I get nations need to expand, but it feels like the AI are determined to go to war with you no matter what you do (unless you make an alliance). This could be an issue in previous games too but it’s still upsetting it’s yet to be fixed.

It’s still a very good game, and an entertaining addition to the best series of games for mobiles, but I do wish they didn’t do away with the previous combat. It really hurts the game, and feels like an unnecessary change. If the devs read this, I really hope the next game has a skirmish mechanic. Maybe even do a medieval game where only armies with ranged could do a skirmish attack, while melee armies can only full rush.

Hi, Thanks for your review. Colonies at war is made to suit everyone. It's really hard to find a happy medium for a game that everyone enjoys. I have discovered that half of the players prefer the simpler WIE and another half prefer a more strategic FIW. Many people don't understand or don't take into account all the variables happening in combat, like leaders, morale, and terrain. And so, with Colonies at war I removed the leaders and morale and focused more on diplomacy. It was impossible for me to find the historic commanders for this game. I felt that firing on each other is a bit irrelevant as you are talking about armies moving into wider regions as opposed to smaller traditional battles of the FIW. I wanted this game a little faster too. Don't worry, The Civil War will be like the FIW when it comes out. John

Kind of broken

The game is great until you play against more than one other nation. I can’t solve the problem in which they all want to attack me. I am not expanding, I’m already getting attacked by another nation so I am just defending, and I gave the other nations gifts. However, that doesn’t stop the other nations from declaring war while I’m already getting attacked by someone else (that I didn’t declare with). I’m literally handing out gifts at the start of the game, and the nations start attacking me 5 turns later. As soon as the other nations expand and border my country, they declare war. Apparently they won’t stand by while I become so powerful, yet they are the ones expanding!!!!
“It may get difficult later in the game.”
I get that it should get more difficult. My complaint is that it doesn’t make sense. AI will just randomly go to war with you for any reason. It’s a luck of the drawl. They find every reason to start attacking you rather than each other. They focus the player regardless of what they do. If I wanted to play the roll of a dice game domination game, I would play risk. The developer will even tell you not to worry about building alliances. Puts options in the game that even they know makes no sense because it’s random.

Hi, Thanks for your review. It can get difficult later on in the game. Please visit my tips and tactics on my website.
