PrEP Romania is a research study that uses a smartphone application (app) designed to provide health and wellness information and resources relevant to gay and bisexual Romanian men. The purpose of PrEP Romania is to support adherence to HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), help build community, reduce stigma, and provide information and resources about relationships, wellness, sexual health, mental health and HIV. This app was created on a platform first developed by Lisa Hightow-Weidman, MD, MPH at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The study is based on the adaptation of interventions developed along the years by researchers at Rutgers and Yale universities. PrEP Romania is funded by the National Institutes of Health in the US. The principal investigators of the study are Corina Lelutiu-Weinberger, PhD from Rutgers University and John Pachankis, PhD from Yale University. Users need to receive an email invitation to download the app and need an access code to complete the sign up process. This mobile app is intended for informational, educational and research purposes only.
