With the free Pattensen Zeitreise app, residents, guests and interested parties can now immerse themselves in the moving history of the town on self-guided tours. There are currently two digitally guided tours. One is through the historic old town and the other is around Marienburg Castle. 1. Around Marienburg Castle Experience fascinating insights into the rooms of Marienburg Castle with the digital tour ‘Time travel around Marienburg Castle’. Immerse yourself in the romantic era of the 19th century, in the life of Queen Marie of Hanover and her husband George V, the last King of Hanover. Get to know the royal family and their court. The filming location of Maxton Hall Visit Marienburg Castle, the filming location of Maxton Hall! Marienburg Castle is an impressive backdrop for numerous scenes in the popular Amazon Prime series Maxton Hall. It is a must-visit destination for fans of the series and offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Maxton Hall. Situated near Hanover, this historic site provides an ideal base for visitors wishing to explore the fascinating world of Maxton Hall. Discover the splendour and history of Marienburg Castle and experience where the magical moments of the series were brought to life. ATTENTION: Marienburg Castle is not open to the public due to extensive renovation work! With the help of the digitally guided tour, visitors will still be able to gain an insight into the interior. 2. Around the old town At a total of 16 stations, you can experience on the spot what it once looked like right here. Take the opportunity to share this experience with your family, friends or colleagues. The tour through the town ends at the market square, where you can also enjoy refreshments at the end. A highlight of the Time Travel app is the 3D reconstruction of the old castle. A model of the former castle was created according to the floor plan of the historical map ‘Pattensen anno Domini 1540’ with a typical appearance at the end of the Middle Ages around 1500 (before its destruction in the Hildesheim Collegiate Feud). Based on this model of Pattensen Castle, a 360-degree panorama was created with an interior view of the castle grounds in all directions. The app can be used not only to navigate to the individual locations, but also to overlay the current viewpoint with videos and images on site using augmented reality (AR). Here you can also meet some important Pattensen personalities, such as Antonius Corvinus, the guards of the Scharwache or Duchess Elisabeth von Calenberg, who talk about their experiences from Pattensen's history. It is important to the town of Pattensen that the Time Travel route is barrier-free. The app also has offline capability and allows you to download all content to your smartphone or tablet in advance if you want to be independent of mobile internet access when you are there.
