HomeBudget is an integrated expense tracker designed to help you track your expenses, income, bills-due and account balances. It offers support for budgeting, and allows analysis of your expenses and income, including charts and graphs. Two key differentiating features of HomeBudget are:
1. Integrated set of features. The features within HomeBudget are well integrated such that a bill can become an expense (when you pay for it) and also adjust the account balance at the same time.
2. Family sync. HomeBudget includes Family Sync, an advanced feature that allows a group of devices within the household to exchange expense and income information, and work together within a single budget. Once setup, the devices sync with each other automatically over the air. Family Sync works across all features including Bills and Accounts. I have been using this app for almost 5 years. I'll admit this app takes time to understand and adjust to using, but once you have all your accounts setup, reoccurring expenses, reoccurring bills, reoccurring transfers setup you will NEVER need to worry about knowing your financially standing again. I absolutely endorse this app as the MUST HAVE financial app if your truly looking to track day-to-day expense, bills, and account transfers. Or just trying to stay within a budget The family sync option via Wi-Fi I did have issues with but a simple email to Customer Support cleared up the issue. Be certain when using Family sync you setup the device you will use everyday as the primary device. Also before setting up Family Sync be certain to have all your transfers, expenses, bills entered as well. If your accounts offer statement downloads offering QIF files you can download your statements directly into the app. I track everything daily so I haven't really used this function much but have to test it out. It does work but you have to be certain while in the import screen to ensure you have the correct account selected to import the transactions into, and is a bit tricky as I experienced when using the downloaded files aren't saved and you work off one file at a time to import. So remember the name of the file your importing so you link it to the correct account. Take the plunge and pay for this app and start all the financial tracking at your fingertips needed. Also have peace of mind knowing if you have any questions or concerns if you email Support you will get a response. Emailed them on several occasions and received a respond the next day with resolution.
Great expense tracker!

I’ve been using this app for about 3 years now and I’m very happy with how it’s allowed me to manually track m expenses and balance my bank account month to month. Some improvements I would like to see would be some tweaks in the “transfer” areas. First of all, it’d be nice to have a little more confirmation of a completed transfer. Like maybe a next screen that shows the completed transfer. Just something with a little more visual feedback so mistakes aren’t made. Also with this, I’d love the option to include transfers as a budgeted expense. For example it’d be nice to add a transfer into the budget in order to track that as an “expense” and have it all together. But maybe this could be optional unlike a typical expense. This would help a lot with people like me that want to have a zero-based budget where we budget out 100% of our expenses including savings.I would also love the addition of some realt-time feedback in the "split categories" menu so that I can see (after putting the first category and amount) how much is remaining from the original dollar amount so that I don't have to do math in my head and memorize the numbers!
Good but can use improvemnt

This app does 90% of what I want it to do. It is very comprehensive and does a great job of giving you a snapshot of your accounts, budget, and income making it easy to see one one screen if you’re trending to meet your budget or are are trending to be over or under. Opportunities for improvement: Add the ability to budget income in the same way as expenses (with a category) as well as expenses for zero balance budgeting (assigning every penny earned to a budget category so every penny does a job) Allow for transfers between accounts to be marked with a category. So you can budget a transfer as savings in a zero balance budget. Allow a category for “do not include in budget reports”. The interface is complicated. One has to go through three screens deep to record transaction when there should be only one. It’s counterintuitive. For a budget override, for example, you have to hit save on the third screen, go back to the second screen where “save” is now grayed out, and you have to select “cancel”. It does record the override this way, but it’s counterintuitive on inefficient. Allow a field in expenses for those admittedly rare occasions you want to record a check number. Recurring transactions automatically record immediately, not on the future dates throwing off account balances on the Home Screen, making them useless. Don’t use white text on bright yellow in a pie chart. It’s illegible. This app has A LOT of potential should they make these corrections. Without them, the app is useful, but falls short. Still, it does more than other budgeting or check register apps.
The only budget app I found both simple and powerful enough to stick with

I tried a lot of budget apps, free and paid. What I like about this app is it gives you a lot of the flexibility and control you get with a serious accounting app without the complex setup those often require. For instance, you can completely customize the Categories and Subcategories to get the kind of financial picture that works best for you. You can also do somewhat tricky things like set both a ‘positive’ cost budget and ‘negative’ income budget that cancel out to show you your real discretionary income after “pass-thru” costs. It’s also easy to track both regular balances, like your checking, savings and cash, as well as credit card debt and loans and make transfers between these accounts. The bill calendar can show these recurring transfers as bills since, after all, they end up being part of your month-over-month liabilities. The ‘reconciliation’ feature can really help you if you cultivate a habit of doing it since it helps you track the difference between pending and posted balances. And, of course, a big part of the paid features is the family feature where multiple users and devices can work in the same accounts and everything stays in-sync.In short, the fact that this app is simple and doesn’t try to automate too much for you is part of its strength because it keeps it highly flexible and customizable.
