Disappointed ... DO NOT PAY FOR XTRA
So we all know lately Grindr has been infiltrated with spam accounts and recently I submitted a ticket asking why I’m no longer able to report spammers. Apparently, according to the customer service rep, we’re allotted a quota on reporting spam accounts. I was dumbfounded to learn that paying for this app is no different than the other mediocre apps. Instead of one click reporting we’re expected to:
Take a screenshot of the user's profile.
Block the user.
Send your Grindr account email address and the screenshot of the profile to customer service with a detailed and complete response.
I’m so disappointed with Grindr that I cancelled my annual subscription. Why pay this app if I have to be subjected to at least five fake profiles a day; and I’m not sending five different emails to report this. It seems they don’t mind all the fictitious accounts associated with the app.
Bad Outweighs Good..By Far
Update: it’s still the same, but now it’s kind of funny.
I’ve never taken the time to review an app, but having been using this one since its inception it seems apt to give my 2 cents: the inconsistencies, lax monitoring and outright biased moderation of profile images, profile content and underage members is outrageous. I’ve personally had it at this point, sick of half my messages not getting through and half messages sent to me showing up on notifications but when I open up the app... nada. On this particular day, though, I’m really, really, really incensed by the discriminatory, inconsistent and offensively undeniable practices relating to profile pictures. I’ve always experienced very, very strict vetting to the extent of images not violating any guidelines rejected; furthermore in the past few days it’s come to my attention that there seems to be an abundance of guys out there that get a free pass and are exempt of certain regulations... without going into detail, it’s very frustrating to submit the same image over and over cropping just a bit more even though there’s nothing to crop as per the guidelines... long story short picture rejected 6 times so far, and they do reserve the right to crop at their discretion yet no... This is bullsh*t. Anyway, I’ll be back to continue this tirade.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We totally understand that, being the first impression, a profile picture is very important in any social media app. We also feel proud of the diversity in the many different display pictures in the grid, as we know each one has been specially chosen to represent a personality and a lifestyle. All the content displayed in the profiles goes through moderation for approval, and as we have a human team working on that, it's no surprise that there might be mistakes while approving or rejecting a picture. If you feel there's been a mistake, contact us at email@example.com, our CS team will review this for you :)
Reading the reviews
I came to see if anyone else is experiencing the App Store redirect spam. Practically every 5 minutes and often three times in a row, quite often it’s Audible but other things in the App Store as well. Have frequently brought up the fingerprint subscription option just trying to close one of the 500 adds that pop up. Yet every time I read these reviews, especially about the App Store redirect, on top of the numerous other shady elements, the comment is to report the add. It’s not an add that’s being clicked, it’s just redirecting almost every 10 minutes and this never used to be an issue. Stop asking people to report the adds and just try using your own app. Scruff is far better, but grindr retains popularity because it’s more well known. I can understand the add pop ups. They’re excessive but manageable. But the App Store redirects need to go. Really people just need to stop using this app all together, but, if you do, beware that you will most likely spend more time fighting to access the app and view profiles amidst App Store spam and adds than you will actually communicating with people.
