Ask better questions. Capture learning as you teach. Leveled stems for Bloom's, Costa's, Webb's DOK and ELD — with insights that show growth.
Stick Pick
Ask better questions. Capture learning. Differentiate with confidence.
Completely rebuilt from the ground up, Stick Pick transforms everyday classroom conversations into meaningful insights.
What began as a smarter way to randomly call on students has evolved into a complete teaching companion for questioning, assessment, small-group instruction, attendance, and instructional decision-making.
Choose from more than 400 organized question stems across Bloom's Taxonomy, Costa's Levels of Questioning, Webb's Depth of Knowledge, and English Language Development (ELD). Whether you're teaching whole class, guided reading, intervention, or small groups, Stick Pick keeps the right questions within reach.
But asking great questions is only the beginning.
As students respond, Stick Pick captures formative assessment that would otherwise disappear the moment class moves on. Record language development, response quality, participation, and learning progress in seconds—without interrupting instruction.
Over time, Stick Pick reveals patterns that are difficult to spot in the moment. See who's consistently growing, who's ready for greater challenge, and who may benefit from additional support. Smart instructional suggestions help you make informed decisions while keeping every teaching decision in your hands.

I also have loved this app for years and was planning on using it in a presentation for my school about apps ever teacher should have. I was disappointed as well when the app didn't seem to be working after the update, but I deleted and reloaded it as another reviewer suggested and it works great. This app is awesome especially when you need a quick assessment. I do wish I could plug in the activity name I was using Stick Pick for each time so I could add that to the data to save.

Thanks for loving Stick Pick for so many years—and for even planning to share it in a presentation at your school! Stick Pick has since been completely rebuilt from the ground up, so thankfully there’s no need to delete and reinstall the app anymore. And that quick-assessment idea you liked has grown considerably, with much richer tools for recording and tracking student responses. Thanks for being such a longtime supporter of Stick Pick! — Buzz
Okay, I made it…so I might be biased

I’m the teacher and developer behind Stick Pick. I originally created it years ago because I wanted a better way to call on students and ask questions at the right level. After the original app disappeared, I decided to bring it back — but instead of simply rebuilding it, I reimagined what it could be after many more years in the classroom.Stick Pick 2.0 has been rebuilt from the ground up with better questioning, formative assessment, differentiation, small groups, attendance, and tools that help teachers notice student progress while they’re actually teaching.I’ve spent a ridiculous number of hours sweating the little details because this is an app I genuinely want to use in my own classroom. So yes, the developer is giving his own app five stars. 😂 But I hope other teachers will give it a try and decide for themselves.
Great app and great support

My app was doing the same thing as other people's...not loading classes, etc. I emailed Buzz for help before I read the reviews. (If I would have read here first I could have just uninstalled and reinstalled it without having to ask for help.) But he got back to me very quickly and told me know what I needed to do. It was a super easy fix. I've used this app for at least two years and this was the first time I have ever had trouble with it. I love the app because it makes my job easier...and who doesn't want that?! :)
Just delete and re-download!

I have used Stick Pick the last 3 years in my grade 1 class. I have also shared it with many colleagues. When I went to add this year's students and kept having problems, I freaked but remembered that I could email the developer. Buzz got back to me right away and told me because of an issue with Dropbox, all I needed to do was delete the app and re-download it. Problem solved, and I am back tons using this fabulous app. Don't listen to the naysayers. I use this app everyday!!
• Fixed a brief flicker of the stick can after tapping Done in Small Groups.
• Added a new No Response reason: "Needed more time to think."
• Clearer wording for learning modes and ELD language levels.
