Trugs® is a structured phonics based English reading resource for school and home. Trugs Word Search 3 is a challenging structured word finder app to help read and identify words from the same Trugs phonics stage. This app is supplemental to the Trugs literacy card games and related activities, or can be used on its own.
Trugs Word Search App 3 covers Trugs Stages 10,13,14,15,16,17 and 18, listed below in the chart. Trugs Word Search 1 and 2 are available and cover Trugs Stages early and mid stages.
How to Use the Trugs WordSearch:
1. Word Search 3 contains stages with long words, 8-12 letters. The Grid Size is 12x12. This large grid is ideally suited to an iPad screen size.
2. Select the Phonics Stage for the group of words to appear. See the table below for details of each Stage.
3. Start the wordsearch. The words are shown on the left column. In Word Search 3, words are show left to right, to assist with conventional reading, but can be horizontal, downloads, or diagonal. The challenge is to find the word. Ideally combine with reading and speaking the words from the left column before the search, if that is helpful.
4. The word list can be refreshed or replaced any time by tapping the "Refresh" button. The search can be Paused, and a New search can be started at anytime
5. It is possible to see the highest score during the session.
Stage 10 - three syllable words, examples consider, discontent
Stage 13 - consonant-le, words ending -le, examples candle, sensible, reliable
Stage 14 - four syllable words, examples independent, magnificent
Stage 15 - suffixes with 'ti' 'ci' 'si', words that have endings with 'ti','ci',"si" examples electrician, situation, expression
Stage 16 - list of words containing 'v', examples addictive, covenant, halve
Stage 17 - list of words containing 'ph', examples atmosphere, photograph, pharoah
Stage 18 - list of words containing 'w', 'who' or 'qu', examples warmth, wholesale, quadrant
