Bring the web to your personal knowledge base. Save content to your Obsidian vault so you always have access to it, even offline. Obsidian is secure, private, and designed around durable open formats that allows you to preserve your data for the long term.
Whether you're researching for a project, saving recipes, bookmarking travel destinations, or collecting inspiring articles, the Obsidian Web Clipper helps you organize your ideas.
- Clip anything: From news articles and blog posts to recipes, product pages, and research papers — if it's on the web, you can save it.
- Select page content: Clip entire pages, selected text, or let the clipper intelligently extract just the main content.
- Customizable templates: Create tailored templates to automatically extract metadata from web pages. Perfect for academics, movie buffs, book lovers, or anyone who wants structured notes.
- Smart triggers: Set up rules to automatically apply the right template based on the website you're clipping from.
- Seamless integration: all your clips flow directly into Obsidian, in the vault and folder of your choice.
As with everything Obsidian, Web Clipper is designed to protect your privacy, and give you control over your data.
- No lock-in: All your clips are saved in clean, durable, portable Markdown files — no proprietary formats.
- Offline access: your saved clips are saved locally, and always at your fingertips, with or without an internet connection.
- 100% private: all your clipped content is stored locally in your Obsidian vault. Your thoughts are yours.
Obsidian helps you create connections and links between your notes so you can organize your thoughts. You can create links between everything — ideas, articles, lists, locations, books — anything you can put in a note, you can link to other notes.
One of the best web clippers out there. I'm so happy to be able to reduce the number of tools I use (eg for bookmarking & capturing snippets/references). This clipper makes it so easy to do research on-the-go! And of course, this this tool has exactly the type of thoughtfulness & quality I've come to expect from the Obsidian team. Another reason I'm a customer for life with this team. 💛
Outstanding App for Obsidian!

As I transitioned from Evernote to Obsidian a year ago, one of my biggest concerns was the loss of the Evernote Web Clipper tool. Having now used Obsidian’s Web Clipper app for several months, I’m extremely impressed with the tools capabilities, including its flexible configuration options and customizable templates.Kudos to Kepano, for building a valuable solution that exceeded my expectations!
No Chrome, No Brave

EDIT: dev has no control over chrome mobile’s lack of extension feature so I’m updating to 5 stars bc it’s still amazing in brave on laptop.Pro Tip: if u hate safari like me, just use Apple Shortcuts for clipping on mobile.OLD: I'm not using Safari. Defeats the whole purpose of Obsidian's privacy architecture.
Developer Response
Unfortunately there's nothing we can do about that. Obsidian Web Clipper is already supported on both Chrome and Brave. The problem is that Chrome and Brave do not allow extensions in their mobile apps. If they did, Web Clipper would be there!
Robust and reliable... until it's not

I've had some really good use of this web clipper. It'd be fantastic if it didn't have glitches. After a few days use it's not working smoothly. Inside the settings dialog, the hamburger (three horizontal bars) button isn't working now. Does nothing. Can't get beyond the general settings to access template settings anymore. And there was on instance where the clipper asked me to restart my browser.
Developer Response
This issue has been resolved in Web Clipper 0.12.0. Thanks for pointing it out to us, and apologies for the disruption!
Fix embedded mode bug where content is not passed to clipboard.
