As a former gymnast, I’ve always been very aware of what I’m eating. I’ve tracked macros for longer than I can remember, and while it’s never really bothered me to log foods, it is a tedious task. I wish I had this app back then. To have something less rigid and more friendly takes the pressure off and actually makes all of this fun. Beyond that, the more exciting part is the way that Alma can take the information and share what it means and what actionable steps can be taken. What’s the point of all this data if I don’t know what it means? Being proactive and making adjustments on the fly as we continue to learn is amazing. Thank you, Alma!

A former gymnast who actually gets the data side of nutrition. This is exactly who we built Alma for. You nailed it: the data is only as useful as the context around it. Really glad Alma is making that part feel less like homework and more like something you actually want to do.
Read before subscribing, very inaccurate, detailed review
Razzle4792
I’ve been using it for about a month and unfortunately subscribed for the year. :/ I really want to love this app, but the accuracy is terrible. I could give many examples, but I just had what I think is a very clear case today which got me to write this. I typed “1 can of Coke Zero” it put 4 calories, 0g protein, 18g carbs, 36g fat. Obviously this is wrong so I clicked “fix it” and it showed an option that said “Coca Cola Zero” and had the correct 0 cal, 0p, 0c, 0f so I think it’s right. Then I see it has 9mg of caffeine listed when it should be 35mg. My point is this app is pretty terrible at the core function and takes way too much babying to get it working properly. The team is responsive when you report things, but it’s always a band aid for the specific issue and you’ll find many more if you continue to use it. I don’t know how their system works but they need to rely on more tool calling and APIs for standard products that shouldn’t ever be wrong like a Coke Zero and use AI only where it can’t find an answer. Just poorly engineered as a whole, you can’t use a probabilistic solution for a deterministic output unless you have many more checks and balances, which clearly Alma doesn’t have unfortunately. Hoping to find a better app, but will continue using this begrudgingly since I paid for it.
Developer Response
Sorry you had such a difficult experience with this. We dug into the Coke Zero issue, fixed it, and emailed you directly. You should never feel trapped in a subscription that is not working for you. Reply to our email and we’ll help you with a refund.Alma 4.0 is coming in the next couple of weeks with major improvements to tracking speed and accuracy.
Easy to use nutrition-focused tracking
HaileyF12345
Finally, an app that focuses on nutrition and how food makes you feel rather than just counting macros (while also still counting macros)! Highly recommend this app to anyone seeking more nutrition-focused tracking. Alma is the only app I’ve used consistently and without dreading it. Extremely easy logging, thoughtful design, and lots of unique features, such as digestive check ins that can help you figure out what foods your body responds best to. They also are continuously adding features so the app just keeps getting better, and there’s a Claude connector if you want to link to that too. The best food app I’ve used!
Developer Response
This means a lot, Hailey. So glad Alma makes nutrition tracking feel useful without becoming something to dread. We love hearing that the digestive check-ins and coaching are helping you learn what works for your body. Thanks for the lovely review!
Valuable insights, not just for weight loss or athletes
53andmahaing
I wasn’t sure if I would keep up with this app, but the insights advice, food suggestions, and other reminders have greatly improved my health which motivates me to continue using it. I started using Alma due to insomnia, chronic pain and sinus infections. I thought: could it be my diet? Logging my food has showed me that my diet was very low in magnesium, vitamin C and D. It showed that I had more sugar intake than I thought, and less protein. The side effects of using Alma… I’m drinking more water and taking my vitamins consistently. I’m eating more healthy proteins. I’m even drinking less alcohol because I want to meet my Alma goals.
Developer Response
This means a lot. So glad the insights are helping you notice patterns and build everyday habits that feel good. Thanks for sharing what’s changed for you.
