Radiant: Guardians of Light is a pixel art action RPG for people who like hack and slash games with proper combos: a sword in one hand, elemental magic in the other and a kingdom to take back from the dark. More than a hundred years ago, the hero chosen by the spirit of light was corrupted by war and became Gultar, the adept of darkness who now rules Helia. Ainar has a smaller problem, at first: bandits took his little sister, Alina, and he wants her back. Then a fragment of the spirit of light chooses him, and the rescue turns into a war. A SIDE SCROLLING HACK AND SLASH Fight through more than 50 side-scrolling levels, from Crab Island and the plains of Adran to the Igdral Forest, the Fields of Ralegost and the city of Helix. Rescue the elemental spirits held by Gultar's heralds and take down the bosses waiting for you along the way, with animated cutscenes and an original soundtrack. COMBAT The part that makes hack and slash games worth playing, done properly: • Chain combos and launch enemies into the air, then keep hitting them up there • Roll out of danger and dash straight through a crowd • Fire elemental blasts, and a special attack when the elemental bar fills up • Switch at any moment between Ainar's sword and the magic of Quinn, the pink-haired apprentice of the sorceress Ophana AN ARPG WITH A FORGE AND A TAVERN Between fights you go back to a village that is a little odd, in a good way. Gildart, the blacksmith, is half troll, half dwarf and half human (best not to check the maths). Grissel has spent a hundred years looking for a cure for an old accident. Rolant is a talking cat who hunts for a living. And Captain Roberts, a retired pirate, runs a tavern full of mercenaries for hire. • Craft and upgrade swords, helmets and armour at Gildart's forge • Equip pendants with magical abilities • Spend skill points to grow stronger • Get potions for a temporary boost, materials from the hunters and mercenaries from the tavern • Follow main, side and daily quests, and travel between the portals you find COLOSSEUM AND A ROGUELIKE MODE When the story is not enough, the Colosseum throws wave after wave of enemies at you. And the Rogue mode builds its rooms at random: pick skills at the shrines, hire mercenaries, face bosses and start again knowing a little more. No two runs are alike.
