I downloaded Rosetta Sapphire because they changed it from the original app, and it was working fine for awhile, I had gotten my monthly subscription and started working on French. But one day my audio just suddenly stopped working, now I can’t complete anything because there is no audio being played. I’ve checked everything including my Bluetooth and my audio from my phone personally, to even updating my software and nothing has been fixed. Feeling incredibly disappointed.

Lifetime membership no option

I am extremely disappointed to see lifetime memberships are left with no option to upgrade. I previously purchased the lifetime membership because I appreciate the offering this app has above others. I definitely understand it would be impossible for the company to offer endless upgrades to the lifetime purchase. However, as someone who has sent a ton of feedback on the classic app, and where most of my feedback seems to have been solved with the sapphire update, I’m really disappointed to see there isn’t either a lifetime purchase option or a fee for an upgrade. Where I spent money on the lifetime purchase on the former version and this only seems like an upgrade to the UX it feels like my previous support is not valued where the content is very similar. Please add an option for lifetime support here! Subscription models are exhausting and I don’t see myself supporting this product in the future without the option. Consider doing what other products do and allowing purchase of the sapphire version and then you have room to communicate the next version will not be included in the lifetime purchase. Allowing some sort of single fee purchase is one of the things that set this app apart from the rest.
Not the Update Experience You’d expect.

I’ve purchased the lifetime membership as many others had. I prefer the teaching style of Rosetta to the translation method of Duolingo. This app still runs very slowly with no ability to really track your progress. The audio lessons can feel overtly repetitive especially if the speaking sections don’t pick you up clearly; which they rarely do. It’s not from lack of trying. I have used separate devices, multiple pairs of headphones, the default mic and speaker and still had issues with failing a speaking lesson due to the app not picking up what I am saying. And this is in a quiet room. Frustrating experience to say the least and really sucked the fun out of learning. All feels like a bigger betrayal having just purchased the lifetime membership and having this released a few days later with another subscription model and same substandard audio/speaking experience.

Betrayal to loyal members

While I like the idea for some of these features, the fact that this company has chosen to create a new independent product instead of updating the existing one doesn’t make sense unless they intend to betray the loyal, paying customers who purchased, in good faith, the lifetime subscription service which was purchased with the understanding that this product was going to be providing longstanding, quality language learning services. The creation of this product allows the company to legally dishonor that promise to lifetime service customers and demand they create a new account and PAY once again. If the company is willing to betray their loyalty customers in this way now, what is to stop them from doing it again to shortchange their customers. Better off with Duolingo, Pimsleur, and/or Busuu. They honor their commitments to their payed customers.
