Practice speaking at a steadier, clearer rate. Steady Speech paces you word by word through eight levels, from short phrases to long reading passages.
EIGHT GRADED LEVELS
Start with two-word phrases and build toward full reading passages:
• Levels 1-7 — phrases, sentences and paragraphs of increasing length
• Level 8 — standard reading passages, including the Rainbow and Grandfather passages
CHOOSE YOUR CUES
In reading practice, pick the cues that suit you:
• Visual — highlight the current word, or show a dot, a line, or one word at a time
• Sound — a selectable cue tone on each word
Turn each cue on or off, and set your rate anywhere from 80 to 200 words per minute.
GUIDED PRACTICE SESSIONS
The app takes you through a set of phrases, with a short count-in before each one. After every phrase you can listen back, repeat it, or move on. A summary at the end shows how the session went.
RECORD AND LISTEN BACK
Every attempt is recorded so you can hear yourself. Keep the ones you want and play them again later from your practice record.
TRACK YOUR PRACTICE
A calendar marks the days you practiced. Tap any day to see what you worked on and play back what you recorded.
PRACTICE REMINDERS
Choose how often you would like a reminder, and the hours you are happy to be reminded.
WHO IT IS FOR
Anyone working on speech rate and clarity — including people with Parkinson's, and people with dysarthria following a stroke or a brain injury. Suitable for speech therapy home practice, and for anyone who wants to slow down and be understood more easily.
PRIVACY
Steady Speech works offline. Your recordings and practice history are stored on your device and are never uploaded to us, and there is no account to create. The app collects anonymous usage and crash data so we can find and fix problems.
