What's new in 1.6.9 - Your shelves got easier: the Tiles / Summaries / Tags switch now stays pinned while you scroll, and tapping a title opens the story while tapping anywhere else on the card opens its details. - New chapters, once a week: your phone quietly checks your works in progress when you open the app. Change it or turn it off in Settings. - Read aloud now uses your phone's own voice for everyone. - A cleaner header and reader, with one scroll bar instead of two. - New: "How AOVault works", where I share the ins and outs. Find it in Settings.

Creator style: some authors style their fics on AO3 with text messages, forum posts, letters and coloured voices. AOVault now shows that formatting the way they made it. Turn it off any time in Settings, Reading. Import a whole list from the + button: your bookmarks, or everything an author has posted. Gentler, faster saving: AOVault uses the copy already in your vault first and only goes to AO3 for a few fics at a time. Read aloud uses your device's own voice.

You decide when your stories update. Tap Refresh on your Vault to fill in story text and check for new chapters, or choose to check automatically once a day or once a week in Settings, Updates. It runs from your phone, a few seconds apart, gently. Read aloud now uses your device's own voice. It's free and nothing you read leaves your phone. AI narration is no longer offered, because authors never got a say in it. If you bought AI narration time, you keep it until it runs out. Also: clearer narration buttons, a simpler new-collection screen, and a fix for saving from the share sheet.

- Add notes to a fic right from your library - Tidier library header on phones - The newest layout: compact fic cards, redesigned tags, ships and collections - Fixes for fic pages on smaller screens

Your fic list, easier to read at a glance. Words, chapters, status and dates now sit together in one line under the author — on the vault and the fic page both, so the two finally match. Fixes • Refresh on a fic now tells you when AO3 is busy and retries by itself, instead of doing nothing at all. • Sign out is back where you can reach it, at the top of the account menu. • Prices come from the App Store itself now, so what you see is what you're charged. • Footer links no longer hide behind the floating buttons. • Notifications lost their emoji. • Fics that failed to import are no longer marked as finished.

Narration. Pick a chapter and press play — it should start there. Let it run to the end of a chapter with auto-continue on and it should carry into the next one. Short lines of dialogue should now be read aloud rather than skipped.

Listening got a lot better. The narration bar now fits the screen — rewind and stop were hanging off the edge where you couldn't tap them. The scrubber works properly too: drag it and the story stays put, let go and it plays from exactly where you dropped it. Two new ways to narrow your vault: by publish date, and by fandom. Discover now browses by fandom and by ship as well — search them, tap one, and the stories open right there. Author's notes are coming back. Any fic saved before we started keeping them refreshes itself the first time you open it. There's also a new "Refresh Everything" that brings kudos, hits and dates up to date across your whole library. Every work in progress now shows when it was last checked for new chapters, so you can see it working. Smaller things: long summaries no longer swallow the story page, Settings shows which version you're actually running, and What's New is up to date again.

The vault, redesigned — and a much better way to find what you want to read. HISTORY — every fic you've actually read, newest first. Read something again and it comes straight back to the top, so the story you keep returning to is never buried under the ones you saved and forgot. There's a History shelf in your collections too. FIND IT BY WHAT YOU ACTUALLY WANT — filter to Complete or work-in-progress, filter by rating, and sort by recently updated, all from the main bar without opening a panel. Browse by ship, by tag, or by collection: nothing throws you back to your library with a filter applied any more. The stories open right where you are, tags stack so you can keep narrowing, and a running count tells you how many still match. NEW CHAPTERS FIND YOU — AoVault now checks your works-in-progress twice a day and tells you when new chapters go up. Before, it only looked when you asked. THE STORY PAGE, REBUILT — the summary is the first thing you see. Fandom, relationships, characters and warnings are grouped and labelled in two columns, and every tag is tappable — tap one to see everything else you have like it. One row of actions sits under the author: reading list, notes, like, collections, and Read Offline. EVERY STORY, AT A GLANCE — the story card labels what it's showing you. Words, chapters, status, published and updated each sit under their own heading instead of running together, and it tells you when you added it to your vault. The like button is back on the card. YOUR VAULT, REBUILT — your reading time, your totals and your ships, all in one place and far quicker to load. Tap any number to see those exact fics. FIXES — a story page that could come up blank, a stale "offline" badge, the import screen jumping under the keyboard, a collection list that could be opened but not closed, and a "most read fic" that never filled in.

Your bookmarks, wherever the story lives. WATTPAD READING LISTS — enter your Wattpad username, choose which reading lists to bring over, and every story lands in your vault, each list arriving as its own collection. OFF-SITE BOOKMARKS — an AO3 bookmark that points at a story somewhere else now imports for real. Wattpad, FanFiction.net, Quotev, LiveJournal and Dreamwidth are all read directly. Anything we can't reach, like a friends-locked journal post, is now listed with the reason instead of being quietly skipped. The import screen also asks which site you're coming from, so the same username on two sites is never confused, and closing it returns you exactly where you were. Note: Wattpad and LiveJournal only share public posts and lists.

• Import your bookmarked SERIES: every work in the series comes in, filed into a collection named after the series • AO3 bookmark collections come over as AoVault collections • Bookmark import finishes the whole list — no more stopping early when AO3 throttles • Deleted a collection by accident? Undo, or Settings → Recently deleted → Restore • Favoriting no longer resets read status; smoother scrolling at the bottom of the vault

• Read-aloud now flows straight through every chapter — no more stopping between them, even with your phone locked • Auto-continue is a clear, labeled toggle that remembers your choice • Listener subscribers who use their monthly hours now see the right message (and can add hours) instead of an upgrade prompt • Search finds titles, authors, ships, and tags in any capitalization • Word counts and "updated" dates on WIP cards now stay current as chapters land • Collection safety: deleted collections are always recoverable • Bug fixes and polish

• Swipe left or right to move between chapters while reading • Bring your downloads home: import your own EPUB files straight into your vault — a folder becomes a collection • Hide any tag: build a squick list that stays hidden until you clear it • New Unread shelf — everything you haven't opened yet, one tap away • Discover: dismiss picks you're not into and refresh for a new set • FanFiction.net stories now update automatically when new chapters post, and Save to AOVault works from FFN, Wattpad, and Quotev • Save fics from Quotev, alongside AO3, Wattpad, and FanFiction.net • Reading goals now sync across your devices • Cards show when a work in progress was last updated • Read-aloud improvements: resume where you left off, tap to jump, stall recovery • Bug fixes and polish

Fixes a bug where a purchase could be charged without unlocking your hours. Adds "Restore purchases" in Settings — if anything ever goes missing, one tap brings it back.
