This update adds iPhone Duo and landscape support, brings a few new features to Microphone Mode, and fixes Profile and background scrobbling for anyone who hides their recent listening on Last.fm. What's New - iPhone Duo support. Now Playing and Profile are laid out for the unfolded display, with side-by-side track actions and artist and album names that wrap naturally. - Landscape on iPhone, with your artwork and track details side by side. - Switch Album in Microphone Mode lets you choose which album a song is scrobbled from. Pick a remastered, anniversary or deluxe edition and the rest of that album follows it. - View Similar Matches in Microphone Mode lets you choose the right song before it scrobbles when the match is wrong. Improvements - Scrobblie now does less work in the background while your music plays, so it uses less battery with the screen off. - Auto Match now sits next to the source switcher in Microphone Mode as an infinity button, so it's always one tap away. - On iPad and the unfolded iPhone Duo, Now Playing and Microphone Mode sit centered on screen, keeping your music front and center. - Microphone Mode's listen button and Clear now line up, and on iPhone a matched song's artwork sits right where Apple Music's does. - Weekly, Top Tracks and Loved now show album artwork for new releases that Last.fm doesn't have a cover for yet. - Long song titles in Profile's Now Playing bar now scroll instead of getting cut off. - The iCloud Sync status now shows only what iCloud is actually doing, like downloading your history, instead of a misleading "Paused" message. Bug Fixes - Fixed Profile, Weekly and catching up on missed scrobbles for Last.fm accounts that hide their recent listening. - Microphone Mode no longer scrobbles a song again when it hears a remaster or anniversary edition. - Clearing a song in Microphone Mode and listening again during the same play brings it back instead of scrobbling it twice. - The Scrobbled button no longer fades after a song is scrobbled. - Fixed Profile and Settings slipping under the tab bar on iPad after going back from another page.

Bug Fixes - Fixed duplicate scrobbles that could appear when catching up on Apple Music listening after interruptions. Repeat listens continue to count normally. Thank you for your patience and for the reports that helped me track this down.

Over the past week, I’ve been working through bugs you’ve reported. Some of those fixes introduced problems of their own, and I’m sorry for the frustration. I’ve spent the weekend reworking how Scrobblie tracks listening, handles skipped songs and recovers scrobbles after interruptions, with a focus on making your listening history more reliable. Here’s what’s improved: - Improved handling of short skips and songs recovered from Apple Music history. - Fixed cases where dismissing one play could affect a later listen to the same song. - Improved tracking when songs change quickly or playback is interrupted. - Added a Last.fm check before retrying a scrobble to help prevent duplicates. - Made pending scrobbles easier to understand and recover, including after long offline periods. - Fixed a timing issue when dismissing a match in Microphone Mode. - Scrobbling now pauses safely when history cannot be saved, with clearer warnings that support larger text. Thank you to everyone who sent reports and stuck with Scrobblie while I worked through this.

Bug Fixes - Rejecting an Apple Music scrobble now applies only to that play, so listening to the same song again can scrobble normally. Background Scrobbling - Strengthened duplicate checks against Last.fm before recovering Apple Music plays. - Background scrobbling now recovers missed plays through the Apple Music API by default, including plays from your other devices. To limit scrobbling to this device, turn on “Only Scrobble Music from This Device” under Settings → Background App Refresh. - Simplified the Background App Refresh menu. - Refined capitalization in Background App Refresh settings. Improvements - Improved Live Activity dismissal while Scrobblie is in the background. - Apple Music updates now keep the intended song and offer a separate retry when Last.fm succeeds. - Apple Music updates stay available to retry until the song’s Favorite status is confirmed.

Bug Fixes - Fixed duplicate Apple Music scrobbles and prevented skipped or incomplete listens from returning through background catch-up. - Fixed repeat plays of the same Apple Music song sometimes being skipped or staying marked as already scrobbled.

New - Added percentage-based scrobbling for Apple Music. Improvements - Made long scrobble countdowns easier to read with minutes and hours. - Reduced unnecessary work when checking your current Apple Music song. - Significantly reduced battery usage (again)

New - Added opt-in Metadata Cleanup (Beta) controls for cleaner song titles, album names, and artist credits on Last.fm. Improvements - Significantly reduced background battery use while preserving real-time Apple Music detection. Bug Fixes - Fixed cleaned catch-up scrobbles linking albums to the original combined artist credit. - Microphone Mode now stops immediately if Pro access ends. - Retrying a scrobble no longer uses another weekly play, including after reaching the free limit. - Fixed a minor issue that occasionally caused crashes. - Fixed Apple Music track changes for songs that have not been added to your library. - Fixed missed catch-up scrobbles and incorrect listening times for Apple Music songs that have not been added to your library. - Improved responsiveness and reliability when background Apple Music detection starts or stops. Important Note - Due to changes in iOS 27, background catch-up times for Apple Music songs that have not been added to your library are estimates based on track length. Songs Scrobblie observes in real time still use their exact listening times.

Improvements - Loved-track hearts now stay in sync more reliably across alternate artist names and changes made on Last.fm or in another app, with clear next steps when an action cannot be completed. - Scrobblie now uses less battery during background detection. - Background detection now reacts immediately when music starts playing again. - New installs now clear the Live Activity when music goes idle, with a shorter 30-second wait after pausing. Bug Fixes - Fixed a rare Microphone Mode race that could clear a newly recognized song. - Always-On Detection now fully stops background monitoring when turned off. - Fixed background scrobbling and Live Activity restoration. - Improved reliability for background Apple Music catch-up and locked-device launches.

New - Added Always-On Detection in the Settings tab under Now Playing. It is on by default, so Scrobblie keeps working exactly as before. Prefer longer battery life? Turn it off and Scrobblie pauses itself once your music stops, then catches up automatically so every play still reaches Last.fm. Bug Fixes - Compilations and soundtracks now scrobble with their album artist, so they group correctly on your Last.fm profile instead of scattering across different artists. (Thanks K1R1!)

Bug Fixes - Fixed an issue where editing a scrobble on Last.fm could cause Scrobblie to scrobble the song again. (Thanks /u/anotherman08!) - Fixed scrobble history date headers sorting in the wrong order on the Profile screen. (Thanks Gabriel!)

Fixed the "When Idle" Live Activity option not clearing automatically when Scrobblie was in the background.

Bug Fixes - Fixed an issue causing duplicate scrobbles.

Improvements - The Live Activity now clears when your music goes idle instead of hanging around indefinitely. The "Never" option has been renamed "When Idle" and the next track brings it back automatically. Bug Fixes - Fixed an issue on the previous release where new installs could skip the welcome and onboarding flow.

Improvements - Added rating prompts at scrobble milestones, so Scrobblie only asks once you've actually been listening for a while. Bug Fixes - Fixed the Rate on the App Store button so it reliably opens the App Store on every tap. - Fixed a crash that could interrupt background scrobble syncing.

Improvements - Added a friendlier onboarding process. The first time you open Scrobblie it now walks you through a setup process. Bug Fixes - Fixed the Live Activity not dismissing when it should.
