The Community Closet is a free, school-based marketplace and clothing exchange that makes it easy to list what you no longer wear, claim great finds from your school community, and earn rewards for keeping good clothing in circulation.
Browse the rack at your own campus, not a nationwide resale feed. Filter by style, size, category, and condition to find what actually fits, and give good pieces a second life instead of letting them go to waste. Every exchange happens at a booth on campus with a student from the team present, so listing and claiming stay simple and trusted.
With The Community Closet, you can:
- List clothing you no longer need
- Browse and claim items from students at your school
- Filter by style, size, category, and condition
- Earn Buttons for taking part, and redeem them for rewards set by your own school
- Follow every claim from booth date, to drop-off, to ready for pickup
- Get a reminder on booth day, and an automatic update if anything is rescheduled
- Ask the built-in assistant about sign-in, listings, claims, rewards, pickup, and drop-off at any hour
- Use the app fully in English or Spanish, every word of it, not just the menus
The Community Closet is free, carries no ads, and is a fiscally sponsored project of The Hack Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. It is built to help great clothing stay in use, support students through community sharing, and make style more accessible without making it expensive.
The final summer update introduces multi-school support, real-time notifications, full Spanish localization, fully redesigned quality UI, faster onboarding, and major security and reliability improvements.
