Forte: Strength & Gym Tracker
Workout Plans & Progress
Only for iPhone
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
Track every rep. Follow proven programs. Watch your strength grow.
Forte isn't just another workout log. It's an intelligent training system that helps you get stronger — with science-based warm-ups, smart program matching, and progress tracking that shows you exactly where you're improving.
SCIENCE-BASED WARM-UP (RAMP PROTOCOL)
Every session starts with a personalised warm-up built on the RAMP protocol used by elite strength coaches:
- Raise: Cardio warm-up with activity selection and live heart rate
- Activate: Targeted muscle activation drills matched to your workout
- Mobilise: Dynamic stretches for the muscles you're about to train
- Potentiate: Progressive loading sets before each compound lift
24+ warm-up exercises selected automatically based on today's session.
AI-POWERED PROGRAM GENERATION
Tell Forte your goals, experience, schedule, and equipment — it builds a complete training program:
- Strength, hypertrophy, or powerbuilding focus
- 2-6 day splits: Full Body, PPL, Upper/Lower, Bro Split
- Exercises matched to your gym's equipment
- 46+ pre-built programs if you'd rather pick one
SMART WORKOUT PLAYER
- Log sets, reps, weight, and RPE with one tap
- Ghost sets show your last performance so you know what to beat
- Drop sets, failure sets, and warm-up set tagging
- Rest timer with adjustable duration and audio cues
- Exercise substitution suggestions when equipment is taken
- Full instructions, form tips, and video demos for every exercise
DAILY READINESS CHECK-IN
Rate your sleep, stress, soreness, and nutrition before training. Forte calculates a readiness score that adjusts your warm-up duration and training recommendations — so you push hard on good days and back off when you need to.
500+ EXERCISE LIBRARY
Search by muscle group, equipment, or difficulty. Every exercise includes instructions, muscle targets, and your personal history — with 1RM estimation tracked automatically across all lifts.
MULTI-GYM PROFILES
Set up your home gym, commercial gym, and hotel kit separately. Each gym stores its own barbell weight, available plates, and equipment — so Forte only suggests exercises you can actually do.
SEE YOUR PROGRESS
- Interactive muscle map showing training volume by body part
- Strength trends and estimated 1RM progression over time
- Personal records tracked automatically
- Weekly volume and session frequency charts
- Body measurements: weight, body fat, and more
BUILT-IN TOOLS
- 1RM Calculator with Epley, Brzycki, and auto formula selection
- Plate Calculator with visual plate stacking for your gym's setup
- Training percentage table from 60-100% of estimated max

Test Drive. Fourteen days of the paid tier. If you haven't started, the offer waits on Home for 30 days. Your first session starts the 14 days. Home shows how many you've used. When the window ends, you see a record of what you trained, what stays free, and what locks. Your programme stays on the screen. Keep training on the free tier, or continue it at a price.
Offline Storage, in Settings, lists each kind of data on your device and its size. When a size isn't known, it reads as unknown. Clear All uses the actual stored size. If a clear doesn't finish, the screen says so.
1.11.0 Aug 27
Build your own workout, properly.
A new Review step before you start or save: every exercise, sets, reps and rest in one place. Tap any exercise to edit its numbers, drag to reorder, and add exercises straight onto a saved workout.
Set a training focus — Build muscle, Get stronger, Power — on the review screen or any saved workout, and see exactly what changes before you confirm. A friendly heads-up now appears before you override your goal's numbers, and changing only the weight or notes keeps your goal intact.
Warm-ups, rethought: a new Raise screen with free warm-up navigation, an honest warm-up clock, and a clear WARM-UP to POTENTIATE progression.
Fixes: planks add as timed holds and carries as distances from every add path; distance work in coached programs no longer reads as minutes; cardio exercises save correctly; new users no longer see "0 of 3 sessions" on day one; double-tapping Add no longer kicks you out of a live workout.
1.10.0 Aug 24
Edit a finished workout
Logged the wrong weight? Open History, tap the session, and Edit. Change the numbers, skip a set you didn't do, swap an exercise, or add and remove sets — then save. You have 24 hours after you finish, or until you start the next lift.
This week, on your terms
Map My Week is now This week, Usual week, and Next week. Move a session to another day, keep your usual template separate, and preview what's coming. Missed days stay on the calendar. A recovery session no longer eats a training day.
Plans that fit you
Change plan now opens on For you — a short list matched to you — with All plans one tap away. Filters speak plainly: Build muscle, Get stronger, Power.
Bands, overnight resume, and honest advice
Band exercises warm up as bands, not a kilogram ramp. A workout with logged sets stays resumable the next day. Progression advice follows the weight you actually lifted.
1.9.0 Aug 17
Smarter exercise swaps
Swapping an exercise now understands your kit. Three tabs — Same Movement,
Best Match and All Options — plus filters for barbell, dumbbell, machine,
cable, bodyweight, band and kettlebell, so you get alternatives you can
actually do with the equipment in front of you.
A calmer Home screen
Home now loads from cache the moment you open it, so Featured programs no
longer flash an empty state and your readiness chip no longer blinks
"Not logged" before catching up. Pull to refresh whenever you want.
Your session, visible at a glance
When a workout is in progress, today's slot on Home now shows as live.
Clearer workout player
Refined set-card hierarchy, progress markers and dividers, so the set
you're on reads instantly.
Warm-up highlight fix
During a warm-up, the active highlight now sits on the warm-up set you're
actually doing, instead of staying on the first working set.
1.8.8 Aug 10
Workout player
• Fixed the fullscreen RAMP warmup dropping back to the legacy player chrome
• A timed exercise mid-workout now keeps the full exercise rail and Next button, so you can always reach the following exercise
• The rest countdown is now a real depleting arc instead of a fading ring
• Smoother transitions when moving between exercises
Heart rate and machines
• Bluetooth heart-rate straps now retry properly instead of giving up after one attempt
• A stale reading is no longer displayed as "live" indefinitely
• Rowers and bikes that expose no usable data no longer report themselves as connected with live data
Your data
• Dismissing the sync-failure alert no longer deletes your queued workout
• CSV export now escapes commas, quotes and newlines correctly
• Export shows progress while it runs
• Measurement dates use your local calendar day
• 1RM estimates reject impossible rep counts rather than producing a false PR
Browse and search
• Exercise search restored to full matching across all criteria
• Exercise library and Browse shelves scroll noticeably faster
Stability
• Fixed a crash on charts with no data
• Fixed a crash on the gyms list when equipment details were missing
• Onboarding can no longer leave you permanently stuck
• The back button no longer dead-ends when opening the app from a notification

Updated plan scheduler & overall fitness goals mapping
1.8.6 Jul 20
Forte now trains more than strength.
Your week spans five pillars — strength, Zone 2 cardio, VO₂max, mobility, and balance. Pick what you want to focus on, add the sports you already play, and Forte counts your whole week across all five: what you've logged, what your sports already cover, and where you're short — shown plainly, never as a grade against you.
Same strength engine. Fuller picture of your training.

App Store — "What's New in 1.7.1"
Refinements across cardio, swaps, and your warm-up — plus a smoother sign-in.
Quick Cardio, rebuilt
Quick Cardio now shows your full cardio list — every modality, steady options first — instead of a thin curated handful. Search anything, filter by equipment, and start a heart-rate-tracked session in a couple of taps. It paints instantly and keeps working offline.
Smarter exercise swaps
The Substitute Exercise screen is redesigned and surfaces more good options — small naming differences in our catalogue no longer hide perfect matches. After a swap, your previous performance, tips, and "see full history" all follow the new exercise.
A warm-up that's honest with you
Clearer warm-up states for each load level. When a mobility drill doesn't fit today's session, Forte tells you instead of silently dropping it. And when you don't need a warm-up, you get a clean "you're good to go" — with a one-tap escape hatch.

Forte 1.5.3
Workout Player
Uncheck a logged set: Now properly clears the set from history, progression hints, ghost sets, and your estimated 1RM — including sets you'd marked as failed. Before, the local row cleared but the server kept the failure flag, so it haunted later workouts.
Empty workout protection: Trying to Finish with nothing logged shows "Nothing logged yet — Discard, or keep going?" instead of silently saving an empty completed workout.
Duplicate exercise guard: Adding an exercise that's already in your active workout is now prevented inline with a clear note.
Last set asks first: When the last set of the workout completes, asks "you done?" before auto-finishing. Was: silent completion if you didn't notice.
Warmup counts for autosave: Autosave now fires when warmup state changes too, not just working sets — so your warmup progress survives a force-quit.
Workout completion is atomic: Rare race conditions that could orphan progression hints or replay advice during a Finish are fixed.
Live Activity / Lock Screen
Tap response: Save, Skip, and Log on the lock screen wake the app instantly. The dead-tap window in some states is closed.
One-tap RIR: On the working-set layout, picking RIR 1-6 saves immediately. RIR 0 still branches to max-effort vs failed / form-broke.
RIR cell feedback: Selected cell shows stronger visual feedback so you know your tap registered.
Warmup mode: Live Activity now has a dedicated warmup-active mode with warmup-rest labels — both iOS and Android.
Skip + RAMP decisions survive resume.
History
Fully offline: Open History without signal — sessions, exercise history, all there from cache.
New Sessions sub-tab with expand-to-detail.
New Trends + Records sub-tabs for kg-loaded, bodyweight, and band moves. Bands now get their own step chart and reps-by-band-level view (was: nothing).
Tap a session row → tuck animation opens its detail.
Expand-to-fullscreen affordance from the in-player History view.
Ghost banner walk-back navigation + first-time empty state.
Offline & Sync
"Offline · showing cached" banner on Home when you have no signal.
AuthGuard works offline: No more bounce to sign-in when you just lost signal. Your cached name still shows.
Session-expired toast: Stops firing when you're just offline. Only shows on an actual revoke.
Saved templates: Stay in sync after create / update / delete (was: stale until app restart).
Quick Cardio works offline: Cardio exercise details are pre-warmed.
RAMP popup: Instant whether you're online or off (catalogue is now bundled).
RAMP suppressed for cardio-only workouts (was: bizarre RAMP card on a 30-min row).
Exercise thumbnails: Disk-cached, so they appear faster and survive offline.
Player preflight is local-first: Readiness + workout-detail no longer block on the network.
Stability
Android 16: Two crashes during resume / post-log are fixed.
Workout save race: Set logging and Finish can no longer collide.
Exercise history endpoint: Fixed a 500 when an exercise had no logged sets yet.

Forte 1.5.1
Workout Player
Log set: Tap "Log set" and a checkmark appears instantly. No longer waits for the API.
Resume a workout offline: Airplane mode → home → tap Resume → loads with all exercises, images, and cues. Was broken before.
Exercise images: Tap an exercise image to open a fullscreen lightbox. Swipe between multiple images on canonicals like Standing Cable Wood Chop.
Cable Row: Removed plate calculator (cable stacks aren't plate-loaded).
Plate calculator: Shows correctly for Barbell, Smith Machine, and Hack Squat.
Last exercise warning: Completing the last exercise while OTHER exercises still have unfinished sets shows "Finish workout? Stay or Finish anyway?" — not silent completion.
Remove exercise: New "Remove this exercise" action in the overflow (⋯) menu. Auto-unlinks any superset partner left orphaned.
Supersets (New)
Adding supersets: Tap +Add → pick an exercise → bottom sheet asks standalone or superset. The superset path lets you pair with the active exercise, another in your workout, or a brand-new pick (re-opens the picker).
Visual grouping: Pills show A1 / A2 prefixes with a purple-tinted border so you can easily see the grouping.
Logging A1: Logging A1 set 1 auto-jumps to A2 with no rest.
Logging A2: Logging A2 set 1 auto-jumps back to A1 with the rest pip running. Rest only fires at the end of the round.
Cardio
RAMP cardio intervals: Now alerts you with a system notification when it ends, even when your screen is locked or the app is backgrounded.
Session stability: Mid-session logout reports should be much rarer due to token cache retries on transient keychain errors.
Offline
Instant loading: Workout, Exercises, and Progress tabs all load instantly with no signal (after one online visit to prime the cache).
Detail pages: Tap any exercise from the Exercises tab offline and the detail page loads.
Pre-warming: Active program's exercises pre-warm on launch so you can jump in mid-session with no signal.
Program Content
Label rendering: Programs with AMRAP, "10 each side", "60 sec", or "5+" sets now accurately render those labels instead of being silently coerced to numeric reps.
Quality of Life
Suggestion banner: Now Forte orange (was blue) and sits below your Active Program.
Progress charts: The last 90 days chart now has a date label for every week you trained.
Warmup prompts: Skipping or completing the warmup within 60 minutes won't re-prompt you.
Readiness modal: Skipping the readiness modal won't re-prompt for the rest of the day.
Completion screen: The workout-complete screen now uses the anatomical body silhouette to match the Exercises tab.
Demo placeholder: Reads "Demo coming soon" instead of "Exercise Demo".
UI adjustments: Added top padding to the Workout tab so "Your Active Program" no longer clips under the title.
Offline indicator: OfflineChip moved out of the workout-player header to a thin strip above the bottom Prev/Finish bar (Spotify-mini-player style).
Button alignment: Finish button is now properly centered on the last exercise.
Fullscreen rest timer: Chevron no longer draws into the iPhone notch.

Forte 1.5.0 — A whole new way to start, and smarter recommendations from day one.
Reimagined sign-up. A new 9-step flow asks the right questions up front: your goal, your sport, your experience, the equipment you actually have, your weekly schedule, and the movements you can do today. Every answer feeds directly into your program matches, so the first three programs you see are genuinely picked for you — not generic.
22 sports supported. Golf, tennis, football, soccer, hockey, boxing, surfing, bodybuilding, and more. If you've picked a sport, you'll only see programs built for that sport (or sport-neutral options) — no more recommendations that don't fit.
Smarter matching engine. Programs are now ranked across goal, sport, equipment, experience level, training frequency, and the movements you can do. Sport mismatches are filtered out, not just down-ranked, so the wrong-fit programs don't surface.
Plate Calculator now reads your gym. The barbell weight, available plates, and unit (kg/lb) come from your saved gym profile — switch gyms and the calculator follows.
Polish across the board.
– Tap to complete a set, gold celebration when you hit a personal record
– Rest timer is a small picture in picture, not a screen takeover — you can browse upcoming sets while you rest
– Post-session summary shows volume, muscles worked, top exercises, and your PRs in one place
– Skip rest with a long-press, leave-workout confirm on Android back button
Stability & reliability.
– Edge-to-edge layout fixes on every screen and modal so nothing draws under the system bars
– Sign-out preserves your onboarding progress correctly
– Offline saves replay reliably when you come back online
Thank you for using Forte. Train hard, train smart.
