New: select whole lines and scenes to copy, cut or delete in one go, and paste a scene from Notes, an email or an AI chat. It comes in formatted.
Scenarist is the screenwriting app built for writers who take their craft seriously. Whether you're drafting your first short film or polishing a feature-length screenplay, Scenarist gives you industry-standard tools in a beautiful, distraction-free interface.
WRITE WITH CONFIDENCE
Smart formatting automatically applies proper screenplay structure as you type. Scene headings, action, dialogue, parentheticals, transitions — everything lands in the right place without manual formatting. Just write, and Scenarist handles the rest.
BUILT FOR FULL-LENGTH SCRIPTS
Scenarist stays responsive as your script grows. A hundred-page feature keeps up with your typing, scrolls smoothly, and jumps between scenes instantly.

I’m new in screenwriting. This app helps me write more professionally and helps with all technicalities I don’t know yet. Really grateful. Thinking about getting a lifetime before it goes up in price. Too good of a deal to miss
Love it

I’m writing a show on my iPad this app keeps changing the dialogue text to the character block and I know I can easily fix that but it won’t let me go to the menu or do anything at all I’m just stuck writing nothing this whole time I’m just gonna stick to google doc
Developer Response
I'm really sorry Scenarist got in the way of your writing — that's the opposite of what it's for, and thank you for telling me exactly what happened. You found a real bug. On the on-screen keyboard, Return was adding a line break inside the current block instead of starting the next one, so dialogue ended up inside the character block. On top of that, the element buttons above the keyboard added a new block instead of fixing the current one, which made it feel like there was no way out.The latest update fixes all of it:• Return now moves you to the next element (Character → Dialogue → Character) like it should• The element buttons above the keyboard change the block you're in• With a keyboard attached, ⌘1–⌘6 set the element type and Tab cycles itIf part of your show still has dialogue stuck inside character blocks, email me at support@scenaristapp.com and I'll help you sort it out. I'd love for you to give it another try.— Nik, Scenarist developer
