HourGlow: Screen Time Rewards for Kids
HourGlow turns screen time into something kids earn — not something they expect. Built for families who want healthier habits without the daily battle, HourGlow uses a beautiful animated hourglass, gentle chimes, and a simple rewards jar to make limits feel fair, visual, and even fun.
No child logins. No social features. No ads. Just a calm, parent-controlled tool that works the way real families actually use screens.
How It Works
Parents add minutes to each child's jar when they earn them — finishing chores, reading, homework, good behavior, or anything you decide is worth rewarding. When it's screen time, your child starts a session and the hourglass begins to flow. When the sand runs out, the session ends with a soft chime and a clear "Time's Up" screen. No surprises, no arguments.
Key Features
• Per-Child Reward Jars — Add a profile for each child with their own name, color, and minute balance. Track what they've earned and used at a glance.
• Beautiful Animated Hourglass — A full-screen, calming countdown your child can watch. The falling sand makes time feel real in a way that digital clocks never do.
• Live Activities & Dynamic Island — Active sessions appear on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island so you and your child always know how much time is left without unlocking the phone.
• Home Screen Widget — See remaining minutes for any child right from your Home Screen. Quick glance, no app open required.
• Gentle Chimes & Nightfall Mode — Soft audio cues mark the start, halfway point, and end of every session. A built-in Nightfall mode dims the screen and quiets sound for evening wind-down.
• Parental Gate — A simple math challenge protects settings, jar adjustments, and subscription controls so younger kids can't change their own balance.
• Add or Remove Minutes Anytime — Reward great behavior on the spot, or deduct minutes when boundaries aren't respected. You stay in full control.
• Custom Session Lengths — Start a session for the exact amount of time you want — 10 minutes, 30, an hour — and watch it count down beautifully.
• Multiple Children Supported — Manage as many kids as you have. Each one gets their own jar, their own balance, and their own progress.
• Privacy First — No accounts. No child data collected. No tracking. Everything stays on your device.
Why Parents Love HourGlow:
Most screen time tools feel like punishment. HourGlow feels like a system — one your kids can actually understand and even buy into. The visual hourglass replaces nagging. The reward jar replaces arguing. And because you decide what earns minutes, it fits any parenting style.
Whether you're trying to reduce daily screen time, build better habits around chores and homework, or just bring some calm back to "five more minutes!", HourGlow gives you a tool that respects both you and your kids.
