Your ink saves in the moments it used to slip away. Ink written offline is kept on your iPad after a long time without a connection, and uploads when you reconnect. Strokes drawn while a page is still opening stay on the page. Every copy of a duplicated or pasted group reaches your other devices. Notebooks reconnect within a second of the network coming back. After a network drop, edits from your other devices and collaborators resume within about a second, instead of after up to 15 seconds. Curve fits plot every model: exponential, logarithmic, power, and sine fits draw their curve, and Auto picks the simplest curve your points support. Pen ink stays smooth when you zoom far in. Your pens, eraser, and shapes stay as you set them after a restart. PDFs keep their detail on zoom and export. Imported PDFs redraw from the original as you zoom. Exports preserve selectable source text and vector detail when the original permits. If the original cannot be used, the export keeps the image and shows a warning. Page icons distinguish circuits, derivatives, integrals, limits, forces, and logic. Automatic choices stay consistent when topic order changes. Copy handwriting into text boxes, codespaces, graphs, and tables. Select your writing and drag it onto one, or choose Copy into and press Paste. Derive types it out as text, code, equations, or table cells you can edit. A PDF import counts pages as their analysis finishes, and says it is done only after the last one. If a page fails, Derive names it and offers Retry. Undo after a PDF import onto an empty page also puts back the page's size and background. After a long jump across a page, paper, grid, and ink appear within a few frames instead of after a blank pause. The selection bar shows the actions that fit what you selected. An equation offers Graph, a step marked wrong offers See why, and an image of code offers Extract code. A loop you draw and hold snaps to a circle when it is nearly round. A clearly oval loop still becomes an ellipse. After Pencil writing, a finger tap in a text field opens the full keyboard. A floating keyboard you chose stays floating. With one page open in both split panes, writing in either pane appears in both, and neither pane loses its strokes. Keyboard shortcuts show one key-cap per key, in one style across tooltips, menus, and Settings. Fixes: slides select by tap, box, or lasso like images; a collaborator's cursor follows them; dark theme math takes its label's colour; closing the Apple or Google sign-in sheet unlocks the account step; the first tap on a landscape form submits it; and a lost connection during sign-up or checkout is named, with the form back after 15 seconds. The tutor reads a stacked fraction as one expression. A fraction bar that snapped to a straight line stays with its top and bottom, so the tutor stops judging the pieces apart. A search answer shows the answer instead of a connection error, with the book and section of each source. Choose Suggest pages in PDF export to arrange your notes into editable A4 or Letter pages. Choose dark paper for a dark PDF. A PDF imported onto an empty page becomes stacked sheets for annotations. Enable Draw with finger in Settings to write with a finger or basic stylus. Two fingers still move the page. Partial erase cuts unfilled shape outlines, including highlighter outlines. Paste plain text onto the canvas as an editable text box. Select several sidebar pages by touch. Learn to use hints and follow-up questions with the tutor guide. Pinned tutor popups grow and shrink with the page zoom. Select several notebooks at once in the library. Press Select, tap the covers you want, then recolour, reshelve or delete the whole set in one action. Every notebook property used to be a one-at-a-time context menu, so recolouring six books cost six menu opens and six colour picks. Erasing is lighter on a busy page. The partial eraser saved every fragment it made on every pointer sample, which flooded the save queue and stalled the canvas mid-gesture. It saves once per eraser stroke instead. Send a plot from the codespace into your notebook. Run code that draws a figure and its output image carries an Insert into notebook button. The figure lands on the page, and undo takes it back. The notebook dropdown keeps New notebook, Home and Collapse sidebar in view however many notebooks you hold. Only the notebook list scrolls, and every row in it is sized for a finger. In the codespace, output stays visible when focus moves, side-by-side mode fills the code pane, and scrolling past the editor's edge pans the canvas. The account chip in the left rail drops its initial square and keeps your name and email. Fixes: the SE10 code is accepted in the onboarding code boxes and the price card quotes the discounted rate before you pay; deleting several pages at once leaves the notebook on a page that survived, so the canvas stays drawn; Settings body text scrolls behind its own chrome bar rather than under the close X. Fewer freezes as you write. This update targets pauses on busy pages. Handwriting recognition does more work in the background and skips unnecessary image preparation. Page previews also defer work while your Pencil is active. Erase sensitivity offers Less, Standard, and More in Settings. Choose how easily a scribble erases ink. Select a text box, then choose a font or size to update all its text. To change only a few words, select those words first. A font-size change now applies to the next character immediately. Your selected pen restores its colour and width at startup. A tool change mid-stroke keeps the stroke's original colour and width. With a hardware keyboard, Alt+1 through Alt+9 select tools by their position in the toolbar. Return to a page at the position and zoom you left. New graphs find space around visible handwriting. Imported PDF sheets stay whole in page-mode PDF exports. Recognition checks whether neighbouring stroke groups belong together. Python runs in the codespace now, alongside the languages it already handled. Text and image output share one list, so a plot and the numbers behind it stay together instead of replacing each other. Explain waits until the codespace actually has code before it runs, and it says what it is waiting for while it waits. Derive reopens on the tool you last chose. The canvas used to start every launch on the pen, so anyone working with a mouse reselected the cursor each time and their first gesture drew a stroke they did not want. The choice is remembered per device, so a pick made on a laptop never disarms the Pencil on your iPad. Menus and panels open clear of your writing hand. Graph panels, text box controls, canvas menus and the tutor's ask card all mirror onto the side away from the hand you write with, on every screen rather than only inside the main workspace. A left-handed student used to read the tutor's prompt through their own hand. Settings search also finds the handedness switch, which it could not before. Writing beside a text box keeps your ink. An idle box claimed the pointer across its full display height while painting only its letters, so a pen stroke started in the empty space next to two letters was swallowed. A tap now selects a single-point stroke, a click reaches a table cell and typing on a selected cell starts editing, and a stroke that straddles the edge of an image splits its colour at the edge instead of flipping the whole stroke. The Pencil's barrel angle now reaches the palette arc. A frozen canvas recovers on your next press. A render loop that latched off used to leave its last frame on screen and read as healthy, so strokes kept reaching the server while the page you were looking at stopped changing. The canvas also asks the scheduler whether it gave up, rather than trusting the pixels alone. Closing a tab no longer sends your next stroke to the closed page. Closing the active tab and collapsing a split both used to leave the workspace pointing at the page that had just gone, so the next thing you wrote saved onto it. Reconnecting restores the page it was waiting for rather than whichever page is open when the wait ends, and a page nobody else is on stops subscribing to its own writes. Printing with Ctrl+P prints your notes, not the app around them. Imported GoodNotes notebooks keep their background pages. On a device that has never synced, a backup reads the server instead of writing out a file with none of your work in it. Your feedback now has a home in Settings, and the Send feedback form is shorter and honest about what it collects. Turning off "Include page context" used to leave one thing behind: the text of the last error the app had hit still travelled with your message. It no longer does, and the form no longer attaches that error at all. Your pages name themselves now. The worker that reads each page has known what is on it for months, while the sidebar went on calling it Page 1. A page carries the title that worker proposes, so a chapter reads as a list of topics instead of a list of numbers. Flip the pen over and it erases. The flipped cap and the upper barrel button both reached for the lasso instead of the eraser. Both erase now, on the install you already have. Imported slides read properly on a dark theme. A picture is inverted only when most of it is light, and the flip keeps hue, so a dark screenshot stays dark instead of turning into a white slab and red no longer comes back as cyan. The iPad picks up desktop edits as soon as you unlock it, rather than staying deaf for up to a minute after resuming. Every page of an imported notebook shows its own PDF page instead of repeating the first, and a large PDF import no longer runs the iPad out of memory. The sidebar collapses on one button that sits in the header and then rides out over the canvas, the chapter bar leads with its chevron, and Move up and Move down live in the section menu. The selection box gains edge handles that scale one axis, a minimum size so an element cannot be dragged down to nothing, and a click on empty paper clears the selection. Page thumbnails are framed as a window on the page, so a line of writing is no longer shaved at both edges and a shelf of pages reads as one set. Tutor marks come back sooner. A recognition step that cost seconds without improving a single mark is retired, and a recheck skips the AI call when the surrounding work has not changed. Symbolic maths, the formula editor and the graph now share one newer engine. Work you do on one iPad now reaches your other devices in full. Two ways a sync could drop an edit or let an older copy overwrite it are closed, and a setting you toggle on one device reaches the others the next time they come to the foreground, without a relaunch. Tutor marks stopped stalling. A missed pen lift no longer holds up the mark on your last line, a mark held back while a line settles arrives up to a second sooner, and every mark comes back about half a second sooner from the server. Recognition reads an x from your ink rather than copying one from the line above. In the graph panel, typing a decimal with a comma, such as y=2,5x, is told about the comma instead of "no real values in this range". The sidebar got simpler. The Chapters and History tabs are gone. Pages you opened recently sit behind a rail item between Library and Graph, and to reorder a chapter you press and hold, so a swipe scrolls the list. New devices start with chapters in one pane and pages in the other. On a dark theme, a dark pen on an imported white page no longer turns white and rubs out the print, and the highlighter blends with the page instead of the theme. Drawing over a graph no longer redraws the whole plot. Practice questions can now mark themselves. Write your answer, tap Check, and Derive tells you whether it is right without ever showing you the key. It compares your working symbolically, so a different but equivalent form still counts. Paper and pens got a lot more literal. Rule a page narrow, college or wide, and set a pen to an actual nib width in millimetres: 0.1 to 2.0 mm for the pen, 1.0 to 7.0 mm for the highlighter. Typed text now sits on the ruled line at every font size, the way your handwriting does. Text boxes you already made are left exactly as you laid them out. Tutor marks are grouped by outcome now, in three named boxes, so you can see what was checked, what looked wrong, and what it was unsure about. They also settle the moment you lift the pen instead of waiting out a fixed pause. Handwriting recognition holds far less memory on long pages, and panning and zooming stay smooth on heavy ones. If you made an account recently and Derive would not let you write, this build fixes it. Your free page is yours again, and anything you drew while it was refused syncs the moment you open the app. Nothing you wrote was lost. The highlighter now keeps its colour and width when you lift the pen, instead of shifting at the last moment. In split view you can drag the section rail to the width you want, with a finger or with the pen. The Home shelf shows a peek of the next notebook, so there is always something to swipe to.
