Spindl: Reading Journal

Track books. Keep a journal.

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

For readers who left Goodreads but never replaced it. Four shelves. A journal beside every book. A reading report you'd actually share. No ads. Ever. Spindl is a reading tracker built by someone who got tired of Goodreads. Track every book you're reading, want to read, finished, or didn't finish. Keep a per-book journal as you go. Watch Spindl the hedgehog cheer when you finish one. FOUR SHELVES, NO ALGORITHM Currently Reading. Want to Read. Finished. Did Not Finish. That's it. No "you might also like." No corporate review feed. Your library is yours. A JOURNAL FOR EACH BOOK Capture thoughts as you read, not just a star rating at the end. Highlight a quote, log a session, snap a page with the camera. The journal stays with the book forever. ISBN SCAN AND OCR Point your camera at a barcode to add a book in one tap. Or snap a page to pull the text into your journal — handy for that quote you'll definitely forget. OPEN LIBRARY, NOT AMAZON Book metadata comes from Open Library, the free non-profit catalogue. Spindl is not owned by a bookseller. We don't push you to buy. STREAKS THAT RESPECT YOUR LIFE A daily reading streak with built-in catch-up days for Premium readers. No guilt. The hedgehog falls asleep when you take a break — they're fine. YEARLY READING REPORT A beautiful PDF summary of your reading year — book count, page count, top genres, top authors, longest streak. Premium. Shareable. GOODREADS IMPORT Already on Goodreads? Export your CSV from goodreads.com and import the lot in one tap. Custom shelves come along too (Premium). APPLE WATCH AND WIDGETS Quick-log a session from your wrist. Pin the home-screen widget to see what you're reading at a glance. PRIVACY-FIRST Anonymous analytics via TelemetryDeck. No ads. No data sold. Delete your account and every byte of your reading history from Settings in two taps. PRICING Free: four shelves, basic stats, reading log, journal, Goodreads CSV import. Premium (£2.99/mo with 7-day free trial · £19.99/yr · or £49.99 lifetime — first 500 readers only): yearly reading report PDF, mood tracking, streak insurance, OCR page-snap, smart shelf suggestions, richer challenges, quarterly mini-reports, custom shelves, advanced analytics, journal export, reading speed tracking, Spindl themes. WHO IT'S FOR - Readers who left Goodreads but never replaced it - Journal-keepers who want their thoughts beside the book, not in a notes app - BookTok and Bookstagram readers who want a tracker that matches the warmth of their feeds - Anyone keeping a yearly book goal who'd like a real PDF report at the end - People who want their reading data on their phone, not Amazon's servers Spindl is built by a reader. Solo developer. No ads, no algorithm, no data selling — just a tracker, a journal, and a hedgehog who's stoked when you finish a book.
