curbwise
Sweep alerts for SF + Oakland.
Free · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
SF + Oakland: pan the map, save your spot, get warned 15 min before the sweeper. Apple Watch, widget, multi-car, iCloud sync. No accounts.
curbwise is the simplest way to remember where you parked in San Francisco or Oakland. And to dodge the ticket waiting on your windshield.
Pan the map to where you parked, tap Save here, and curbwise sets a notification 15 minutes before you'd get a ticket. It reads the sweeping schedule and posted time limit for that exact block from the city's open data. No accounts. No login. No subscription.
WHAT YOU GET
• Pin-driven home — the home screen is a map with a pin at the center. Pan until the pin lands on your curb; the card below shows the schedule before you commit.
• Find a spot — driving around? Nearby curbs are painted red through green by how long you can park before the next sweep. Green means plenty, red means imminent. Pan to compare blocks at a glance.
• Sweep warning — pushes a notification 15 minutes before street sweeping starts on your block.
• Time-limit warning — for posted hourly zones (typically 2 hours, M-F 8am-6pm), a heads-up before the limit's up. Tap "Snooze 1 hour" if you're skirting it.
• Multi-car — track more than one vehicle. The home shows tabs across the top of cars; the parking history filters per car with a vehicle pill on each row.
• Apple Watch app + complication — glance at the next-sweep countdown from your wrist. Syncs from iPhone automatically.
• Home Screen widget — countdown to the next sweep with a small map of your block.
• iCloud sync — your parking history syncs across your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch via your private iCloud account.
• (TBD) CarPlay — save and look up your spot from the car display.
• Siri — "Hey Siri, I parked in curbwise" to save hands-free.
• Walk-back — see the distance and walking time from where you are now to where you parked.
• Works offline — the entire SF + Oakland sweeping schedules are cached on your phone.
HEADS UP — WHAT IT DOESN'T COVER
curbwise covers San Francisco and Oakland in v1, and handles street sweeping plus posted hourly time limits. It does not cover painted curbs (red, yellow, white, green, blue), metered parking hours, residential permit (RPP) zone enforcement, garages, private lots, or temporary signage.
Always glance at the curb and read the sign — curbwise is a heads-up, not a guarantee. If a tow truck shows up, the sign wins.
WHY SF + OAKLAND
Because parking enforcement here is intense, the data is public, and between SF (38,000+ blockfaces) and Oakland there's a lot to keep track of. Other cities are on the roadmap.
PRIVACY
Your parking history stays on your device and (if you're signed into iCloud) syncs through your private iCloud database — never our servers. No analytics, no ads, no third-party tracking. Location is used to look up the block you're parked on and is never sent off-device except to query the cities' public open-data feeds. The whole sweeping dataset is cached locally so the lookup itself can happen offline.
BUILT ON OPEN DATA
San Francisco schedules come from data.sfgov.org; Oakland schedules come from Oakland's open data portal. If a sign on the curb says something different from what curbwise shows, the sign wins — the open data reflects the rule, not always the latest update.
Ratings & Reviews
Smarter first launch, sharper Apple Watch, and reliability fixes.
• First launch is now city-scoped — only your city's sweeping data downloads, with a visible progress bar instead of a silent wait.
• Apple Watch redesigned around the soonest parking deadline, so the most urgent car is always front-and-center.
• Widget is per-car configurable and gained a "Next sweep" option.
• Pending sweep alarms are cancelled when you delete a car, and pending alarms are now visible in Manage.
• Fixes: no more duplicate "My car" after reinstall, vehicle list refreshes when CloudKit syncs in, save errors are surfaced instead of swallowed, and a corrupted local store self-heals instead of bricking launch.
