Arrow Optimizer
Quiver Analysis Score Tracker
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
New: checks before you mark an end, a virtual target when a photo won’t read, a Scoring Assistant switch for each session, and your real session names in A/B comparison.
Arrow Optimizer turns your practice into data. Log every end, and the app tells you which arrows are actually costing you points, how your sight really moves, and where your equipment needs tuning — no spreadsheets, no guesswork.
ARROW OPTIMIZATION
Record each arrow's impact by tapping a target photo or entering shots digitally. Every session tracks real vs. predicted score, group size (σx/σy), and World Archery line-cutter scoring that accounts for your exact shaft diameter. Pro tools go further: Quiver Dispersion Tuning shows which named arrows are shooting loose, Arrow Ballistics Data breaks down each shaft's own bias, and the Combination Analyzer tests every possible subset of your quiver to find your tightest, highest-scoring group.
CROSS-SESSION POOLING
A single session rarely has enough arrows per shaft to trust the numbers. Pool the same named arrow's shots across every session you've logged for a far larger sample, or run an A/B comparison to see whether a new rest or shaft change actually helped — or was just noise.
SIGHT CALIBRATION
Find your sight's real mm-per-click ratio by shooting a base group, dialing in a known adjustment, and shooting an adjusted group. Every calibration — and every regular practice end where you log a click change — sharpens one shared, ever-improving ratio per distance. A built-in virtual target shows the suggested correction visually.
SIGHT MARKS & PREDICTION
Save your elevation and windage settings at each distance you shoot, then let the predictor interpolate a starting sight mark for any distance you haven't logged yet.
PLUNGER TUNING
Sweep plunger tension in steps around your base setting, log a group at each one, and see which tension gives the tightest, best-centered result.
EQUIPMENT SETS
Save named bow/arrow configurations — arrow type, limb, riser, bow weight, plunger, brace height, tiller, arrow diameter, sight hardware — and tag every session, sight mark, and calibration with the exact rig you shot. Switch between an indoor and outdoor setup, or two different bows, without losing track of which sight settings belong to which.
PROGRESS
Watch your practice volume, group tightness, and round scores trend over time, across every distance you shoot.
YOUR DATA, YOUR CONTROL
Back up every session, calibration, target photo, and equipment set to iCloud Drive or your device, and restore it anytime. Available in English, German, Ukrainian, Spanish, Korean, Turkish, Portuguese, Russian, and French.
Free to log sessions, calibrate your sight, and track sight marks. Unlock Pro for the full optimization engine: Quiver Dispersion Tuning, Arrow Ballistics Data, the Combination Analyzer, and cross-session A/B comparison — the tools that find the fraction of a millimeter separating placings at competitive levels.

more Safer target setup
After straightening a photo, the app checks that the rings sit where they belong. A picture that looks misread goes to review instead of straight to marking, and it is never accepted automatically.
The review screen warns “The rings may be misread” and offers three ways out: correct the rings, retake the photo, or enter the arrows on the virtual target.
The wrong-face popup and the three-spot photo problems also offer Use Virtual Target, and say what to do (retake, or enter on the virtual target).
Ends
Tapping Next End on an end with unmarked arrows now asks first: Keep Marking, Next End Anyway, or Delete This End.
Deleting an end shows the one before it and renumbers the rest.
Scoring Assistant (Pro, experimental)
It is now a single switch per session, in Session Info → Prompts and in New Session. The Settings switch is gone.
The prompts also appear in New Session, which has a more compact layout.
A/B Group Comparison
The sessions are listed by their own names and dates.
The results name the session that grouped tighter or landed closer to the center.
Both distances are shown when the two sessions were shot at different distances.
2.7.6 4d ago
Target setup, rebuilt
The app measures the printed rings in your photo itself: no colour taps and no distortion screens, straight to marking your arrows. The old steps only appear if a photo can’t be read.
Arrows and fletching across the rings no longer throw it off, and the picture isn’t bent near the fletching.
It checks whether the photo shows the full 10-ring or the 6-ring face, and asks you to retake the photo if that doesn’t match the session.
The ghost target follows the rings actually printed on your target, including the 10 and X rings.
Three-spot sheets
Photograph a vertical or triangle 3-spot sheet with the camera or photo picker, for a new end or from Next End.
Only your marks are saved, not the photo.
The Scoring Assistant (Pro, experimental) can suggest a pin for each spot.
Marking arrows
Previous and next arrows beside the End # title move between ends.
Pins are much easier to grab and drag, also by their arrow number.
End number, arrow scores and the end summary stay visible over the target while you zoom and pan.
The Performance Summary shows the number of ends.
Opening an old end no longer shows the Scoring Assistant pop-up; tap the scope icon when you want it.
Export (Pro)
New Export Session Data in the Optimization Engine section: CSV or Excel with session date, distance, target size, end, arrow, X and Y in mm, score and clock position.
Sessions and prompts
The prompts (arrow assignment, Scoring Assistant, sight correction suggestions) are now also in New Session, in a more compact form; the Pro ones show a lock.
The Scoring Assistant can be switched off for a single session.
2.7.2 Oct 13
Wind hold for sight suggestions
• Pick the wind sock stage and direction to get a temporary wind hold in clicks, plus an aim point on the target
• Works in the Sight Adjustment Calculator and the next-end sight popup, for outdoor distances
• Add your arrow speed to an Equipment Set so the estimate uses your arrow
Target setup
• More reliable center detection when arrows and fletching are in the photo
• Automatic recognition now hands over to manual setup instead of spinning forever
• The review screen can accept a good result for you after a short countdown (adjustable in Settings)
Sessions
• Filter the session list by Equipment ID and distance
• Each session shows its real, projected and predicted score at a glance
2.6.0 Oct 3

• Log ends fast with digital entry, camera capture, or photo import
• Get sight-click suggestions based on your own shot history
• Track group dispersion and spot flyers with Pattern Analytics
• Find your best-performing arrow combination with the Optimization Engine
• Compare arrows and rigs across sessions with Quiver Tuning
• Back up and restore your full shooting history, including photos
2.5.7 Sep 28
Scoring & Arrow Optimization
• Compound and recurve bows now score correctly for 18m WA, Vegas, and Lancaster rounds — including the X-ring rules for each format (Lancaster's 11-point X, WA's compound 9/10 split).
• Arrow Optimization (Top Combinations, Multi-Session, and Cross-Session Optimization) now applies these same scoring rules, so "best subset" rankings always agree with your scorecard totals.
Sight Calibration
• Sight calibration and click history are now tracked separately per Equipment Set. Previously, click data from a different bow or sight at the same distance could blend into your current rig's calibration, producing wildly inaccurate suggested adjustments.
• The Equipment Set screen now explains what happens if you leave a session untagged (default click/thread/bow values, shared calibration pool).
• Sight Calibration records now show which Equipment Set they belong to.
Fixes
• Fixed Quiver Dispersion Tuning showing zero for every arrow on 18m 3-spot (WA/Vegas/Lancaster triple-spot) sessions.
• Fixed a dark mode issue where some buttons had invisible text.
• Fixed target and arrow diameter sometimes reverting to defaults for new practice ends, calibration groups, and restored backups.
Thanks for using ArrowOptimizer — keep the feedback coming!
2.5.0 Sep 21
Practice Log: track your standalone practice and blank-bale arrows over time, right alongside your scored sessions. Scroll and pinch-to-zoom through your volume, group tightness, and round score charts by day, week, month, or year. Filter, edit, and manage every logged entry, then export a clean PDF report to share or archive.
Refreshed Arrow Optimization screens: cleaner arrow ballistics and pattern analytics cards make it easier to see which arrows are pulling your group apart at a glance.
Faster hit logging: entering an end now auto-saves as you go and can auto-pop the next hit entry, so you spend less time tapping and more time shooting.
More accurate target photo correction: an upgraded perspective-warp algorithm (16-point homography plus a per-angle refinement pass) keeps ring measurements accurate even on photos taken at an angle.
Plus a refreshed app icon and a round of smaller fixes and polish throughout.
2.4.5 Sep 13
Target calibration is now faster and smarter:
• Auto-save when everything checks out — if your target photo is clean and every marker lines up, ArrowOptimizer saves it automatically. No more tapping through screens that have nothing left to fix.
• Smarter center detection — the app now cross-checks multiple rings on your target photo instead of relying on just one, so alignment stays accurate even with a shot near the middle or a slightly angled photo.
• Better accuracy on half-face (6-ring) targets — marker placement now follows a more reliable printed border, reducing distortion in the outer rings.
• Straight to arrow entry — after saving a calibrated target, you're taken directly into shot entry instead of back to your session list.
• Only flags what actually needs a look — if a few markers can't be auto-confirmed, only those are highlighted for you to adjust, instead of asking you to re-check all 16.
Smoother, more automatic target processing so you can spend less time on setup and more time shooting.
2.4.0 Sep 8
Deeper Equipment Profiles
Equipment Sets now capture your full setup, recurve or compound. Recurve: riser & limb size, limb draw weight, brace height, tiller, nock height, clicker, and rest. Compound: brand, model, axle-to-axle, draw weight, cam, let-off, and brace height. Both bow types now track a full stabilizer setup — long rod length/weight, V-bar angle, and side rod length/weight.
Arrows get their own structured fields: brand, model, spine, length, balance point, point weight, and total weight — with Front of Center calculated automatically as you enter them. Your sight setup now includes a model field, and bowstrings are tracked too (brand, length, strand count).
X-Ring Scoring for Indoor Rounds
18m sessions can now use the scoring system your tournament actually shoots:
• WA — recurve scores the whole 10-ring as 10; compound scores only the X ring as 10, with the rest of the 10-ring at 9
• Vegas — X and the rest of the 10-ring both score 10, same for every bow
• Lancaster — the X ring scores 11, same for every bow
X-ring hits now show as "X" instead of "10" everywhere a score appears, including live while you're annotating an end.
Round Totals on the Scorecard
The Digital Scorecard now opens with a Round Totals box showing your X count, 10 count, 9 count, and average score per arrow for the whole session — no more counting by hand.
Fixes & Polish
• Deleting an end no longer leaves a gap in the numbering (e.g. End #1, End #3) — remaining ends renumber automatically so they always read 1, 2, 3…
• Sight Manufacturer now appears above Sight Model in Equipment setup, matching the order you'd actually fill it in
As always, thanks for shooting with the app — keep the feedback coming.

2.3.3 Sep 2
New: Equipment Sets
Save named bow/arrow setups — arrow type, limb, riser, weight, plunger, brace height, tiller — and use one as the Equipment ID on any Sight Mark, session, or sight calibration.
Sight hardware, per rig
Arrow diameter, sight manufacturer, clicks-per-rev, and eye-to-sight-pin distance now live on each Equipment Set instead of one global default, so switching bows switches your sight math too.
Smarter Sight Calibration
Logging sight clicks during a normal practice session now creates a calibration record for that distance automatically, so you can review your real vs. theoretical mm-per-click without running the full calibration flow.
Also in this update
- New sessions and sight calibrations now require an Equipment ID, so every record stays tied to the exact gear you shot.
- Filter sessions, sight marks, and cross-session pools by Equipment ID.
- Session names are now editable right from the session detail screen.
- The Equipment Set editor has built-in help and clearer field labels.
- Stability fixes.
2.3.0 Aug 29
Smarter tuning, clearer feedback, and a more polished experience across the board.
RING SCORE, EVERYWHERE
Your group's dispersion (how tight your shots cluster) now shows as a "Ring N" badge right next to the numbers — see instantly what your consistency would actually score on a World Archery target. Now in Session Results, Arrow Ballistics, Pattern Analytics, and Cross-Session views.
NEW: PATTERN ANALYTICS
A dedicated screen for your shot pattern — a visual dispersion graph, 1-sigma/2-sigma/3-sigma consistency zones showing what percentage of your shots land where, and plain-language diagnostics (e.g. "vertical spread suggests inconsistent draw length").
AUTOMATIC SIGHT CALIBRATION (Pro)
Every practice end can now quietly become calibration data. After finishing an end, optionally log the clicks you dialed in — the app blends that into an increasingly accurate real-world mm-per-click model for your sight, no separate calibration session required.
IN-APP HELP, RIGHT WHERE YOU NEED IT
- A guided walkthrough for running an Optimization session, built into the session screen.
- New info buttons next to technical terms — spread (sigma-x/sigma-y), Ring N, MPI, and Plunger tuning — each with a one-tap, plain-English explanation. No more guessing what the numbers mean.
RELIABILITY IMPROVEMENTS
- Save failures are no longer silent — you'll now see a clear message if a session, round, or shot fails to save.
- Fixed a bug where cross-session arrow ballistics could be calculated inconsistently; the underlying dispersion math is now shared everywhere it's used.
- Faster calibration lookups for sessions with a lot of history.
POLISH
- Consistent card styling across empty states.
- General cleanup and stability fixes under the hood.
2.2.3 Aug 25
Added the hit pattern analysis tool.
2.1.0 Aug 20
This update brings full round-score tracking, smarter progress charts, and built-in help throughout the app.
ROUND SCORE TRACKING
• Log WA round scores (300, 360, 600, 720, 1440 and Field) by date and distance.
• Your real Optimization sessions are automatically projected to 30- or 36-arrow round scores and shown on the same timeline as your manual entries.
• See average and best trends by day, week, month or year.
• Filter the timeline by distance, and tap a point to read its exact score.
• View, sort, edit and delete every logged score. Sort by date, distance or source, and your all-time best for each distance and round is highlighted.
• Share a clean PDF report of your rounds for any period.
PRACTICE VOLUME YOU CAN EDIT
• Tap any bar on the Practice Volume chart to correct that day's arrow count or notes.
• Type an exact number instead of only stepping up and down.
CLEARER PROGRESS PAGE
• The distance selector now sits with Group Tightness, where it actually applies, so it no longer looks like it filters your practice volume.
• Removed the redundant "Average Score / 36" chart.
FILTER YOUR SIGHT MARKS
• Filter saved sight marks by distance, or show them all.
BUILT-IN HELP
• A new "?" on the Session Info of Optimization, Sight Calibration and Plunger Sweep opens clear, step-by-step instructions for each workflow.
• A reminder on the optimization screen: keep your sight fixed within an end and adjust only between ends, so results reflect arrow selection rather than sight changes.
MORE RELIABLE STATISTICS
• Rewrote the group-comparison statistics to use exact critical values and consistent degrees of freedom, so significance calls on small samples are trustworthy.
BACKUP & LANGUAGES
• Backups now include your round scores and practice logs alongside sessions, calibrations, sight marks and photos.
• Updated translations across all nine supported languages.
Thanks for shooting with Arrow Optimizer. Keep your questions and suggestions coming — they shape every update.
