Uttr
Say it messy. It comes back.
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
Some thoughts don't have a date. Not a meeting, not a task — just something you'll want later. Say it messy, in one breath, and Uttr hands it back when it matters.
Some thoughts don't have a date.
"The car's making a grinding noise." "Sarah likes oat milk." "That thing I should ask the doctor about." They're not a meeting, so the calendar won't take them. They're not a task, so a to-do list makes them nag. Put them in Notes and you have to decide where they go — and then you have to remember to look.
So they stay in your head, and they leak.
Uttr is where you put a thought before you know what it is. Hold your Action Button, say it messy, in one breath, and put your phone away. It sorts what you said into the parts that belong somewhere — the dentist appointment into your calendar, the reminder into Reminders — and it keeps the rest as a memory, then hands it back to you later, on its own.
SAY IT MESSY
• One press from anywhere: Action Button, Lock Screen, Control Center, Siri, widget
• Say several things at once — "dentist Thursday at 3, remind me to call mom, and the car's making a noise" becomes three separate cards
• Fillers, false starts and "no wait, Wednesday" corrections are understood, not transcribed
• Stop talking and it files itself. Lock your phone mid-thought and it still finishes
IT COMES BACK
• Dateless thoughts return on their own, spaced further apart as they settle in
• Events land in Apple Calendar and tasks in Apple Reminders — your real apps, not another silo
• A calm morning brief tells you what today actually holds, and what's still open
• Nothing you say is ever deleted to make you upgrade
IT BECOMES YOURS
• Fix a card once — a spelling, a name, a category — and Uttr remembers forever
• See and erase everything it has learned, any time
• Everything stays on your iPhone. Speech is transcribed on-device, and on iPhones with Apple Intelligence the AI refining runs on-device too. No account. No ads. No analytics. Nothing to sell.
FREE AND PREMIUM
Free is a whole app: unlimited capture, unlimited events and reminders, and your seven most recent memories keep coming back. Premium keeps every memory returning no matter how many you have, and mirrors your items into Todoist, Notion or Google Tasks. Search is free, and stays free — finding what you saved is part of the return, not an upsell on top of it.
Uttr isn't a notes app you have to manage. It's the place you throw a thought so you can stop carrying it.

more A cleaner, faster first run — and a fresh coat of paint everywhere.
• New welcome: five quick animated steps show how Uttr sorts what you say and brings it back — then you're straight into your first capture
• No more blank screen or sliding flash when the app first opens
• New icons throughout the app, widgets and Apple Watch
• Tap to speak stays bright and ready instead of fading in and out
• Settings: follow @uttr.app, share Uttr, rate it, or get help — all in one place
• Win Uttr merch: our launch giveaway is free to enter (official rules in the app)
• Fixed: Terms of Use and Privacy links now always open
• Smoother Board, Memory Map and loading screens
• Under the hood: Uttr now proves to its own server that requests really come from this app on your iPhone (Settings › Insights shows the device check)
0.4.2 Sep 29
• What you see while you talk is what gets saved — corrections ("Tuesday, no wait, Wednesday"), "scratch that", lists and long thoughts now form on screen exactly as they'll file
• Say something in another language and Uttr waits for you to check it instead of filing a guess
• "Start over" really starts over — nothing you just discarded can slip through and save
• Better at run-on thoughts: an afterthought like "…on the fridge, lowercase, no spaces" stays with the thought it belongs to, and "standup at 9, then the client call at 2" becomes two cards
• "On Monday, book the flights" and "Next Friday, pay the rent" land on the right day with a clean title
• Under the hood: every build is now checked end to end before it ships
0.4.0 Sep 15
• The yearly plan is here — pick monthly or yearly on the first screen that asks, see each plan's own free trial, and find your plan, renewal date and a Manage button in Settings; Restore now says what it found
• Faster with a lot saved: opening Uttr no longer waits on your whole history, and saving writes once instead of several times
• Reminders from the lock screen: Done and "In an hour" right on the alert — and Done on a daily reminder means done for today, not forever
• Tap an alert and the Board opens on that card
• Finish a reminder in Apple's Reminders app and it leaves Past due in Uttr too
• A long Board stays quick, with "Show all" on long sections
• AirPods coming out mid-sentence no longer cut you off — Uttr keeps listening on the phone
• "Wrapping up…" shows before the time limit ends a long capture
• If something couldn't be saved or removed, the card says why
• Mirrors: changes wait while Google, Todoist or Notion needs a reconnect, then send — nothing is quietly dropped
• "Still here" on Sundays only if you haven't opened Uttr in a week, silently, with its own switch
• Morning brief and evening digest follow you across time zones
• Easier to read: stronger contrast on buttons and small text in every theme
0.3.9 Sep 14
• Nothing said is lost: if the mic can't come back after a call or a headphone change, what you already said settles into cards instead of vanishing
• Nothing comes back twice: "Tomorrow" on a memory returns once, on that morning, and a return you've already seen isn't repeated the next day
• A long thought looks the same while you talk as after you stop — one memory, not a card per sentence
• Dates that used to slip: "Christmas Eve dinner at 6" lands on December 24, "Friday the 17th" is the 17th, "at 12 Main Street" is an address, "Dinner with Sam, Alex and Priya" is one event with three people, and "every two weeks" or "until December" ask instead of guessing
• The tidy-up can't invent: a refined title only keeps words you said, a person only if you named them, and a "remind me" stays a reminder
• Honest saves: if something can't be saved on this phone you see it and can retry — never a false "saved"; a reminder Uttr can't remove says why
• Send to Uttr never loses a share
• Undo from a banner says what it undid, and asks Face ID from the lock screen
• Crash reports can be exported from Settings › Insights — stack traces only, nothing leaves unless you share it
• Prices come from the App Store only, permissions you haven't been asked for yet say "Allow" and ask right there, and Todoist can now delete what it created (reconnect once)
0.3.8 Sep 14
• Saves faster — a short capture files a couple of seconds after you stop talking
• A whole paragraph stays one memory instead of a card per sentence; anything you say to remind or book still gets its own card
• On iPhones without on-device AI, a long capture offers Uttr's private cloud refine once, right there — off by default, off any time in Settings › Privacy
• Settings is six clear sections instead of one long page
• The top bar stays below the clock on every screen size
• Much sharper detections — "the day after tomorrow", "a week from today", "two weeks from Friday", "end of the month", "next month", "this weekend", "the fifteenth" and "3rd of March" all land on the right day; "half past three", "quarter to five", "after lunch", "end of day" and "moved to 4" set the right time; "every morning" and "weekends" repeat properly
• Cleaner cards: "note to self", "I should probably…", "we should…", "make sure to…" and "first thing tomorrow" no longer ship in titles; "Lunch with Priya" is an appointment; "Dr. Patel", "Sara and I", "tell Jordan" and "send Mom" pick up the person; "her sister" and "flight to Chicago" no longer do
• Lists: "Costco run, paper towels, dog food" and "remind me to buy milk, eggs, and bread" become one checklist; "call mom at 5, sorry 6" keeps the corrected time; "testing one two three" and "um" never save themselves
• Premium's free trial is now 3 days
0.3.7 Sep 10
• A run of pure filler like "so yeah okay" no longer saves itself as a memory unseen — it now waits for a look before it's kept, the same as any other low-confidence capture
0.3.6 Sep 9
• A saved-confirmation arrives the moment something files, even while you're looking at the app (switch it off under Notifications if you'd rather not)
• The evening digest and the saved-confirmation now show as banners (silent) instead of hiding in Notification Center
• Privacy, terms and support now live on the new Uttr website
• Four skins: Paper, Bold, Notebook and Synth (Field retired); Synth's particles stay out of the way of your cards and buttons
• Faster, tidier under the hood — the capture screen was reorganised with no change to how it works
0.3.5 Sep 3
One thought stays one card. Uttr used to cut what you said at every breath — "call the plumber, the sink is leaking again" became two things. It doesn't any more, and the cards you watch form while you talk no longer split and then change their minds.
Returns arrive when promised: a memory comes back on the second morning, once, and the banner says why it's back. And a memory about something coming up — the dentist, a flight, dinner with a friend — comes back the morning of that day. Your morning brief names what's actually on for today instead of repeating itself, and reminders ring once, not twice.
Also in this release:
• "Hello" and "testing" no longer become cards — Uttr says "Nothing to keep there" instead
• When the microphone can't open, the screen tells you what's wrong and how to fix it
• Reminders you finish in Apple Reminders leave your Board
• Search finds reminders and events, not just memories
• The first week asks for one thing at a time — no stacked pop-ups, no permission before you need it
• Fix a misheard word by tapping the title, no need to say it again
• Cancelling a sign-in isn't an error, and the limit chip stays dismissed
• Every button on the capture screen is easier to hit, and the first-run tips match your skin
• Five skins, cleaner and faster; hundreds of lines of retired ones removed
0.3.4 Sep 2
Nothing you say leaves your phone — now by default, for everyone. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, AI refining runs entirely on your device. Everywhere else it's off unless you switch it on in Settings, where a new "Private by default" card shows exactly where your words go (nowhere).
A returning memory now opens its own card — what you said, when you said it, and why it came back today — with one-tap actions: turn it into a reminder, keep it, or snooze it a week.
Also in this release:
• Memory cards show their age ("Said 120 days ago") instead of just "Saved"
• Reminders can break through Focus modes, so "remind me at 3" actually rings at 3
• Share to Uttr from any app — text and links file through the same pipeline as your voice
• Uttr on Apple Watch is now in the setup guide (it shipped with the app all along)
• Every skin gets the full Board — Notebook users get past-due notes, day groups, and Let it go
• Larger text sizes no longer break layouts, and Reduce Motion is honored everywhere
• The setup guide now says what's actually left ("2 essentials left") instead of "1 of 14"
• Faster, cooler Memory Map; cleaner launch with no white flash; dozens of small fixes

0.3.2 Aug 25
This one is almost entirely fixes, and several of them matter.
• Reminders actually remind. Five separate faults could each leave a saved reminder completely silent — including one where Uttr never asked for notification permission at all if you let a capture file itself.
• Nothing you say gets dropped. "Dentist Thursday at 3 and I need to pick up milk" used to save the milk and lose the dentist entirely.
• The time on a card is the time you actually get. A reminder could be shown at one time and set for another, so the card said 9:00 PM while the reminder went off at 8:00.
• "Tonight" is 8pm every time you say it, instead of a slightly different answer on every capture.
• "Tomorrow afternoon" means 2pm again — it was being read as noon, because the word "afternoon" contains "noon".
• One thought stays one card. "The brakes also squeak" no longer splits into a card that just says "The brakes".
• Spoken answers are audible again — the audio session was being torn down mid-sentence.
• A wrong split is fixable: drop one card, or join it back into the one above, without losing the rest.
• The Memory Map searches everything you've said (not just memories), tells you why each result matched, and names the groups it finds.
• Setup is where you'd look for it, and the step-by-step walkthrough is reachable.
0.3.1 Aug 22
Uttr is now built around the thought that doesn't have a date.
• Say it messy — one breath, several things at once, fillers and "no wait, Wednesday" corrections understood rather than transcribed
• Dateless thoughts come back on their own, spaced further apart as they settle
• Free is now a whole app: unlimited capture, unlimited calendar events and reminders, and your newest memories keep returning. The old monthly cap on smart parsing is gone.
• Onboarding is one screen instead of four — setup waits until after your first capture
• A calm morning brief now tells you what's still open, not just what's scheduled
Fixes: memories could quietly stop resurfacing without ever having been shown; the morning toggles now say what they actually do; opening the Memory Map no longer spends anything.
0.3.0 Aug 14
This one is about hearing you properly.
Saying "um" no longer breaks up your thought
• A pause mid-sentence used to split one thought into pieces — you'd watch the cards fragment while you were still talking. Fixed, live as you speak and in what gets saved.
• "Call mom, um, at three" is one reminder now, at 3 o'clock. Times you say out loud — "at three", "at half past eight" — are finally understood; before, only digits counted.
• Lists survive a hesitation: "eggs, bread, um, milk" stays three items.
Trusting what it heard
• Uttr no longer marks a capture as "hard to hear" just because it added a comma. Well-heard captures file themselves instead of waiting for you.
• Pressing the capture button again mid-thought now finishes the capture instead of throwing away what you already said.
• A quick double-press before the mic wakes up keeps listening rather than saving silence.
A first run that shows you
• The opening screen now demonstrates a capture instead of describing one — watch a spoken thought become a card.
• Quiet, one-at-a-time hints during your first real capture, and no more setup screen you couldn't get past.
Also: your Google, Todoist, and Notion copies survive the app being closed and can be undone properly; events keep their time zone when you travel; and a paused connection tells you instead of failing quietly.
0.2.4 Aug 11
This one fixes the things you'd only notice when they went wrong.
Hearing you, uninterrupted
• AirPods connecting mid-thought no longer silently stops the capture — Uttr keeps listening and keeps every word.
• Long captures stop repeating words at the one-minute mark.
• On iOS 26, the very first words you say are no longer lost to the engine warming up.
• Captures that sound finished file about two seconds sooner, hands-free.
• The mic always closes — no more open mic quietly draining battery in a noisy room.
Filing exactly what you said
• "Dentist at 3:30, remind me to call mom" is two clean cards — not a list titled "Dentist at 3".
• "$1,000" stays $1,000. "In 2 days at 5pm" keeps the 5pm. "Biweekly" means every two weeks.
• Events keep their local time when you travel.
• Google Tasks land on the right day in US time zones.
Undo you can trust
• Undo on a notification undoes that capture — not whatever you saved most recently.
• Cards held for a second look can now actually be filed from the edit screen.
• Retrying something that failed no longer gets mistaken for a duplicate.
Quieter fixes: your voice assistant hands audio back to your music when it finishes, long-lost memories survive file corruption via backup, and lifetime stats no longer shrink as old thoughts are archived.
0.2.3 Aug 9
This one is about getting it right.
Hearing you better
• Say several things in one breath and they land as several cards — "Dentist tomorrow at 3. Call mom tonight." is now two, not one.
• Numbers stay where they belong: "buy 2 gallons of milk" keeps the 2.
• "in 20 minutes", "next week", "on the 15th" and "dentist March 15" are understood properly — March 15 no longer becomes March 1.
• "dinner at 8" means 8pm. "standup at 9" still means the morning.
• Echo cancellation, so Uttr can't hear its own voice — and captures now end cleanly in a noisy room instead of listening forever.
Never saving the wrong thing
• A stray "um", a half-heard word, or "scratch that" no longer files anything.
• Nothing reaches your Calendar or Reminders unseen unless it was clearly heard and actually has a time. Anything less waits on your Board for a look.
• Undo — on the saved screen and right on the notification, so a hands-free capture is always reversible.
• Say the same thing twice and it files once.
Memory Map
• Every star is named now, so you can read the map instead of guessing it.
• A one-line summary of what your memories are actually about.
0.2.2 Aug 4
Setup that actually works without an Action Button, clearer reminders, and polish throughout.
• Phones without an Action Button get Back Tap and Lock Screen Capture Button on one screen
• Mark reminders done from the board with one tap
• “Set a reminder…” stays in Reminders (not Calendar)
• Faster setup deep-links into the right Settings panes
0.2.1 Jul 26
A big update — Uttr is easier to learn and does far more with what you say.
• A guided first run and an in-app tour show you every way to capture
• "Bring it back": when you save something, choose to resurface it tomorrow, in a few days, or next week
• Search everything you've ever said — or just ask out loud ("what did I say about the car?")
• A Memory Map that shows how your thoughts connect
• Ten living themes to make it yours
• Premium: unlimited AI parsing, exclusive themes, unlimited spoken shortcuts, and export
• Faster, steadier speech capture, with accessibility and polish throughout
0.2.0 Jul 23
A cleaner, faster first run — and a fresh coat of paint everywhere.

• New icons throughout the app, widgets and Apple Watch

• Win Uttr merch: our launch giveaway is free to enter (official rules in the app)
• Fixed: Terms of Use and Privacy links now always open
• Smoother Board, Memory Map and loading screens
• Under the hood: Uttr now proves to its own server that requests really come from this app on your iPhone (Settings › Insights shows the device check)
