readHD: ADHD Speed Reading
Bold First Letters & Pacer
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad
Tired of re-reading lines? readHD uses bold letter fixation anchors, an RSVP pacer up to 300 WPM, paper-like grayscale, and a reading ruler to beat text fatigue.
Ever reach the bottom of a page and realize you didn't absorb a single word? Do your eyes drift across dense paragraphs, forcing you to re-read the same line multiple times? Standard digital typography wasn't engineered for active minds, wandering attention spans, or readers with ADHD and dyslexia. Unbroken blocks of text create visual crowding and erratic eye jumps, resulting in tracking fatigue, lost focus, and abandoned books.
readHD is an assistive reading utility designed to restore focus, improve retention, and stabilize your reading pace using guided visual ergonomics. By emphasizing the opening letters of each word, readHD establishes visual fixation anchors that guide your eyes smoothly forward along every line—preventing line skipping and keeping you engaged from start to finish.
Whether studying technical PDFs, reading EPUB ebooks, or reviewing articles, readHD provides the exact visual structure you need to read comfortably.
CORE FEATURES & COGNITIVE READING TOOLS:FIXATION ANCHORING (BOLD FIRST LETTERS)
Automatically bolds the opening characters of every word to create high-contrast visual waypoints. Your eyes lock onto the word root while your brain completes the rest, minimizing eye strain and stopping involuntary backtracking. SPOTLIGHT READING RULERIsolate line-by-line focus with an adjustable reading guide. The surrounding text is softly blurred while your active line stays sharp, eliminating distractions and keeping your eyes centered. Built-in line detection automatically skips empty margins.
COLOR GUIDE ZEBRA STRIPES
Alternate soft tint bands across rows to combat visual crowding, reduce pattern glare, and keep your eye tracking straight across wide screens.
PAPER-LIKE GRAYSCALE & COMFORT THEMES
Replicate the clean, glare-free feel of dedicated digital e-readers with our distraction-free Paper-Like Grayscale theme. Also includes Charcoal, Warm Cream, Vintage Sepia, and Calm Green palettes calibrated to reduce blue-light fatigue.
DISTRACTION-FREE BRAIN DUMP & NOTE-TAKING
Never lose your reading momentum to intrusive thoughts. Tap open the quick-note drawer to jot down reminders, capture ideas, or take margin notes on what you just read without ever losing your spot.
RSVP PACED READING (UP TO 300 WPM)
Eliminate eye movement entirely with Rapid Serial Visual Presentation. Stream text word by word at a comfortable, steady pace up to 300 WPM at an optimal visual anchor point—ideal for quick study sessions and low-fatigue reading.
AUTOPACED AUDIO & TEXT SYNC (GHOST MODE)
Listen along via natural text-to-speech while active words highlight in real time. Turn on Ghost Mode to fade out inactive text behind the audio pacer, channeling complete visual focus onto the current sentence.
BRING-YOUR-OWN-KEY (BYOK) PRIVATE AI TOOLS
Connect your personal OpenAI or Anthropic API key to generate private chapter summaries, simplify dense passages, and build study flashcards right inside your book.
1,500+ BUILT-IN CLASSIC BOOKS
Instant, zero-wait access to a curated library of over 1,500 public-domain literary classics across 19 genres, including Science Fiction, Philosophy, Mystery, and Adventure.
OFFLINE-FIRST & PRIVATE (PDF & EPUB)
Import your personal DRM-free EPUB books, academic research papers, and PDF documents. All reading progress, files, notes, and highlights remain stored locally and securely on your device. Take control of dense text, retain more of what you read, and finish every book with readHD.
