Knot in Time
Habit Tracker & Daily Journal
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
New in 3.0: widgets that log with one tap, Lock Screen timers, alarms for a missed dose, and a layout made for iPhone Duo. Still 100% offline, still no subscription.
Knot in Time is a private journal and flexible tracker for the parts of life you want to remember, understand, or change.
Track office days, medicines, routines, habits, streaks, personal commitments, countdowns, and special moments. Create a tracker that fits your real schedule, then check in without turning your life into a scorecard.
TRACK IN YOUR OWN WAY
• Set exact counts, weekly rhythms, averages, percentages, streaks, and countdowns.
• See logged days, suggested days, future plans, and progress in one calendar.
• Use optional reminders and location-based check-ins for routines that benefit from them.
JOURNAL WITH CONTEXT
Write naturally, add photos, moods, and tags, and connect entries to the things you are tracking. On supported iPhones, Apple’s on-device intelligence can help organize entries, surface themes, and bring meaningful moments back into view.
UNDERSTAND WHAT IS WORKING
Calm analytics show weekly patterns, projected progress, personal bests, and the trackers that may need attention—without reducing every day to a score.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your journal and tracker data stay on your device. There is no account, no advertising, no developer-operated analytics, and no cloud database. Core tracking and journaling work offline.
PORTABLE, ENCRYPTED BACKUPS
Create AES-256-GCM encrypted backups for moving your history to another device. Protect restores with a recovery password, optionally save it to Apple Passwords, and use Face ID for convenience on your current device.
Knot in Time is free, with no subscriptions or premium tier.
Knot in Time is a personal organization tool and does not provide medical advice.
Ratings & Reviews
Widgets. Put a tracker on your Home Screen and log it with one tap; the button turns into a receipt, and a second tap undoes it. The Today widget shows whatever your home screen puts first, with how many of the day's items are done. Lock Screen widgets and a Control Center button log too.
Timers on the Lock Screen. Start a session on any tracker or streak and the clock runs on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Finishing logs it. A saved place can time your visit on its own: arriving starts the clock, leaving stops it.
Alarms for what you can't miss. If a dose, tracker or streak still isn't logged a set time after its reminder, it can wake you with a full alarm, and the alarm's button logs it. Off until you turn it on, with a history of which alarms you answered.
Siri, Spotlight and Shortcuts. Find any tracker, streak or health log from Spotlight, or ask Siri to open it.
Made for iPhone Duo. Unfold it and Home shows your day on one side and the tracker you opened on the other. Covers, the journal, the calendar, settings and setup screens all lay out across both panels, nothing sits on the crease, and folding keeps your place. On iPad, the journal now opens like a book too.
Fixes. The app could freeze on launch in the weeks before the November clock change. That is fixed. At large text sizes, Save buttons, the first-tracker card on Home and the create sheets no longer clip.
