Silo Gif
Video to GIF, palette control
$2.99
Pick a clip from Photos, crop it square, choose 16 to 256 colors and a Bayer dither, and watch the loop play before you save it. One purchase for iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Turn a clip from your camera roll into a GIF you can send. Keep the seconds you want, crop it square, 4:5 or 16:9, decide how the colors are reduced, and watch the finished loop play before you save it.
Silo Gif does its own color reduction. It builds a weighted median-cut palette of 16 to 256 colors from your clip, and an 8×8 Bayer dither with a grid you can scale smooths gradients when you cut the color count. Each GIF89a file is reopened after it is written, and its frame count and canvas size are checked before it is handed to you.
Pick a video or a Live Photo from Photos, open a MOV or MP4 from Files, or on iPad drop a movie onto the import area. Try a sample loop, on the first screen, runs the whole conversion without any media of your own.
In the editor you trim the range, choose the frame, set output dimensions from 16 to 2048 pixels with the aspect ratio locked or free, and choose 1 to 50 frames per second. Speed runs from 0.25× to 4×, with bounce, a loop count or forever, and up to two seconds of hold on the last frame. Scrub the source or step through it one frame at a time. An estimated file-size range, measured by encoding sample frames from your clip, updates as you change settings.
Small, Balanced and High are starting points. Save any combination of settings as a named recipe, up to 32 of them kept on this device, and apply one to the next clip.
When the loop is ready, save it to Files or Photos, copy it, or share it. Make a GIF is also available in Shortcuts, so an automation can convert a video for you.
Conversion stays on your iPhone or iPad: no account, no upload, no analytics. Silo Gif converts; it does not add text, stickers or captions.
A single purchase unlocks Silo Gif on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Needs iOS 18 or iPadOS 18, or macOS 14.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Choose from Photos now opens videos as well as Live Photos, so a clip you just recorded goes straight into the editor. On portrait videos, High now keeps the tall side at 2048 pixels instead of making a canvas the export rejects. A new Frame choice crops to square, 4:5 or 16:9, and the preview shades the part that will be cut. Bounce loops now play back in reverse instead of stopping on the last frame. The file-size estimate is now measured from your clip, shows a realistic range, and explains why when an export would be too large. The Changing rectangle switch, which had no effect, is gone.
