Boardcall: Surf Report & Tides

Swell Forecast & Board Picker

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Your morning surf read in plain English — plus the one board from your quiver that actually fits today's conditions. Every surf app shows you twelve numbers and leaves the decision to you. Boardcall gives you one answer. Each morning, Boardcall reads the swell, wind, and tide at your break and tells you what it's actually doing out there — in the way a friend who already checked would tell you. Waist high and clean. Blown out by ten. Worth the drive. Then it looks at the boards you actually own — your quiver, by real dimensions and volume — and tells you which single one to grab today, and why. WHAT YOU GET • A plain-English surf report every morning — no jargon, nothing to decode • A board recommendation from your own quiver, with the reason why • A straight verdict: fire, fun, marginal, or skip • Seven-day forecast with the right board for each day • Tap any reading for its 24-hour chart: size, wind, swell energy, UV, and tide • Measured offshore buoy readings beside the forecast at most US breaks • Wetsuit call based on real water temperature • Feet or metres, °F or °C — set each one the way you read the surf • A daily reminder at whatever time you actually wake up • A Home Screen and Lock Screen widget with the day's call BUILT AROUND YOUR BOARDS Add your quiver once — length, width, thickness, type. Boardcall works out the volume, weighs it against your size and skill, and matches it to the day. Short-period wind swell and a 5'10" shortboard don't mix; Boardcall knows that and says so. HONEST BY DEFAULT If it's bad, Boardcall says it's bad. No hype, no notifications engineered to get you to open the app. The whole point is to save you the drive on the days that aren't worth it. NO ACCOUNT REQUIRED No signup, no email, no password. Your quiver, your spots and your profile live on your iPhone rather than in an account, and Boardcall never uses your location — you pick breaks from a built-in list. Writing the briefing does send something, so here it is plainly: that day's conditions, your skill level and weight, and the boards it's choosing between go to our server and on to the AI that writes the prose. That request isn't logged or stored. Along with it goes a random, anonymous ID — the one thing we do keep — used only to stop abuse of the briefing feature. It isn't tied to you, and there are no analytics, ad trackers, or crash reporting anywhere in the app. BOARDCALL PRO — OPTIONAL Everything above is free and uncapped: every board pick, the whole map, all 336 breaks, the seven-day forecast. Four AI-written briefings a week are free; past that you still get a real briefing, written on your phone instead of by the AI. Pro adds: • AI-written briefings every day • A weekly note on patterns in your own logged sessions • The best window across the whole week, not just today • Extra daily reminders • Side-by-side board comparison, and insights from your logged sessions • Boardcall Pro — $6.99 per month, or $54.99 per year • Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase • The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period. • Manage the subscription or turn off auto-renew in your Apple Account settings after purchase Privacy Policy: https://zachweston123.github.io/boardcall/privacy Terms of Use: https://zachweston123.github.io/boardcall/terms Covering every US coastline — West Coast, East Coast, Gulf, Alaska, and Hawaii — plus Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa, and marquee breaks worldwide, from Mexico and Costa Rica to Portugal, France, Indonesia, and Australia. Wave and wind data from Open-Meteo. Tide predictions from NOAA, for US breaks.

A volume check on the Quiver tab, for a board you do not own yet. Put in the dimensions of a board on the shop rack and it tells you whether the float is right for you and for the day — the same arithmetic behind your daily board pick. Newport Point (Blackies) was reading about twice its real size. A local said so, they were right, and it is fixed.
