No account, no server, nothing uploaded. It gets sharper every month you use it.
WHAT ELLIE LEARNS
From the first receipt, Ellie remembers the shops you use — buy there again and
the category, the account and the currency are already filled in.
By your third month it starts proposing what a budget line really needs, from
what you actually spend rather than what you guessed.
It notices the bills that repeat, so the subscription you forgot about stops
being a surprise.
It works out how often you buy your staples — monthly, quarterly, or no pattern
yet — and whether what you spend on them is drifting up.
And it tells you when it does not know. A pattern takes three months before Ellie
will call one, and it says so plainly instead of guessing.
BUDGETS YOU ACTUALLY KEEP
One number answers the only question that matters: can I spend this? By week,
month, quarter, half-year or year. Ellie tells you whether you are on pace, not
just what is left.
START WITH THE MONTHS YOU ALREADY HAVE
If you keep a budget spreadsheet, Ellie reads it straight from Files — months,
categories and all. Your history counts from the first minute, and Ellie learns
from it instead of watching you for three months. No spreadsheet? Ellie gives you
a blank one set up the way it reads.
RECEIPTS READ FREE, ON YOUR DEVICE
Photograph a receipt and your iPhone reads it — the shop, the amount, the date,
and the individual product lines, so you do not retype your shopping list.
Nothing is uploaded and nothing is charged.
REIMBURSEMENTS, FINISHED
Turn the expenses you fronted into a real claim document — twelve formats built
in — then track it from draft to sent to paid. The money comes back into your
accounts when it lands.
ANY CURRENCY, SIDE BY SIDE
Hold dollars, euros, đồng, Singapore dollars — Ellie converts everything into the
currency you count in, and one tap reads the same screen in another. Every figure
carries the rate it used and the day it was taken.
YOUR INVESTMENTS
Record what you hold and set the prices yourself, or connect a market-data
account you already have — SSI, Finnhub, Twelve Data, Marketstack — and Ellie
refreshes your portfolio when you open it.
SEVENTEEN REPORTS
Spending, income, cashflow, forecast, profit and loss, savings rate, net worth,
investment returns. Every one exports as a PDF. At month end, Ellie's close pulls
the loose ends together — what is uncategorised, what is over budget, what you
are still owed.
WHAT ELLIE NEVER DOES
No analytics. No crash reporting. No advertising or advertising identifiers. No
third-party code of any kind — the app is built only on Apple's own frameworks.
No sign-up, no password, no email list. Your data is never sold, shared, or used
to train anything.
Ellie is a tool for keeping your own records. It is not financial, investment or
tax advice.
Ratings & Reviews
Removing the sample data now clears everything it added — the reports, the
cashflow chart and the policies list included.
"Try Ellie with sample data" is something you can undo completely. Anything you
add, edit or change while it is loaded goes back when you remove it, including
an exchange rate you typed in by hand.
Also fixed: Home could show two different totals for the same month while iCloud
was still delivering; exchange rates stopped refreshing after you restored a
backup; and an insurance payout could reach a tax estimate it does not belong in.
