New: tools for renters — get a repair made, check if a rent increase is legal, know your rights. A lotteries widget and Siri, too. Find A Crib maps the buildings where the rent is legally limited — in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington DC — using each city's own public register, and tells you what you can't see from the sidewalk. FOUR CITIES, FOUR REGISTERS Pick a city, then narrow it the way that city is actually divided: by borough in New York, by neighborhood in San Francisco and Washington DC, by area in Los Angeles. - New York City: all 47,000 rent-stabilized buildings on the NYS HCR register - Los Angeles: parcels meeting the city's RSO criteria (2+ units, built on or before Oct 1, 1978) - San Francisco: rent-controlled units reported to the SF Rent Board, at block level - Washington DC: units registered with DHCD under the Rental Housing Act IN NEW YORK, THERE IS MORE The New York map adds what only that city publishes: the building's HPD record, who runs it, re-rentals from HPD-approved marketing agents, and the lotteries you can apply for today. SEARCH YOUR WAY Filter by the ZIP's typical rent, building size and open violations, draw your own map area, and save the search. Every building has a button that opens its address on StreetEasy (New York) or Zillow (other cities) to check what's for rent there. KNOW THE BUILDING FIRST Every building page shows its HPD record — open violations by class, complaints, the last registration — alongside the typical rent for the ZIP from HUD, a street-level Look Around view, and the nearest stabilized buildings on the same blocks. WHO RUNS IT Sign in to see the managing agent, owner and head officer the building has registered with HPD. LOTTERIES, WAITLISTS AND VOUCHERS Open lotteries and waitlists from New York State's HousingSearch portal — income limits, deadlines and a direct link to apply — plus buildings that take Section 8 and other vouchers. SAVE AND SYNC Heart a building and it's in My Activity; sign in with Apple or Google and your saves follow you to findacrib.com. ALREADY HAVE A PLACE? - Get a repair made: what NYC's Housing Maintenance Code requires for heat, hot water, leaks, mold, pests and more, a ready-to-send letter to your landlord, and the steps from 311 to HPD - Is my rent increase legal? Checks a renewal against the Rent Guidelines Board orders for rent-stabilized leases and Good Cause Eviction's limit for most other apartments - Know your rights: plain-language cards on repairs, retaliation, lockouts, deposits, roommates and more, each with its law - Add lottery deadlines, repair dates and your lease end to your calendar WIDGETS AND SIRI A Home and Lock Screen widget shows the lotteries closing soonest in the borough you pick. Ask Siri "Lotteries closing soon in Find A Crib". ACCOUNTS An account (Sign in with Apple, Google or email) includes bedbug and rodent records, the repair and rent-increase tools, and borough alerts. FIND A CRIB PLUS Plus adds real-time lottery alerts, managing-agent phone numbers, the Broker fee check, AI tools — Search in plain words, Help me apply, Lease review, the Renewal coach, AI repair letters and rights answers — and removes ads. • Building chat, redesigned: your messages on the right, long-press to react, reply or unsend, swipe to reply or see times, and a button to jump to the newest. • No pests filter: hide buildings with pests cited by HPD in the last 12 months. • Help me apply now attaches the documents you've saved when you email the agent. • Open complaint counts are live and match the list. • Search results say "69 buildings", not just "69". • Smaller fixes.
