Assist now says plainly when this phone cannot be verified and why, and tells you when a short wait is all it needs. Small fixes.

No more ads: the banner is gone for everyone, and the app is lighter without it. Coloured paper keeps its colour when a page is cleaned, so an orange or yellow form still looks like one. Crash reports and usage statistics help fix problems; you can turn them on or off in Settings at any time.

DocScanner now speaks 19 languages, including Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese and Urdu. Scanning uses much less memory, so pages clean and save without the app closing on phones with little memory, and a phone that is short of memory waits instead of crashing. The camera focuses more reliably. Crash reports and usage statistics help fix problems; turn them off in Settings at any time.

Sharp photos are no longer mistaken for blurry ones. DocScanner now shows its logo from the moment it opens, and scanning uses less memory when a page is left before it is finished.

Cheap and slow phones no longer freeze: the app measures the phone on its first clean and turns the AI clean off where it is too slow, keeping every page clear with the quick clean instead. You can turn it back on in Settings, or clean one page with it from Enhance. Background cleaning runs at low priority, waits while you scroll, and pauses when the phone is hot or in Battery Saver. Search finds words inside Chinese, Japanese and Korean text. A missing text reader is explained in your language.

Paper in shadow comes out whiter. Importing a large PDF no longer closes the app. Fewer crashes when you return to the app, and phones with less memory scan at a size they can handle. Opening the app no longer shows a half-drawn library. A scan cut short when the app closed is saved, and the app tells you. Backups wait for a connection, and a failed restore says why. Screen readers name every screen and can move stamps. Buttons and reminder times are no longer cut off at large text sizes.

Auto-capture is now off until you turn it on in the camera or in Settings. When it is on, it no longer takes the back of an ID card before you can turn the card over, and it only fires on a page that fills enough of the frame near the middle, so it stops grabbing other papers as you move. If a still page never comes into focus, the camera now says Tap to capture instead of waiting for ever. The shutter button still takes anything. Assist answers can also be reported if wrong or harmful.

German now speaks to you as du everywhere. Settings says when notifications are off for reminders that are set, and after months without opening the app it names the reminders that came due meanwhile, since the phone may have stopped the app before they rang. A Premium purchase waiting for you to sign in is now said, with a Sign in button. The Continue with Google button follows Google's own design. The Backup screen says that locked documents are backed up too, and stay locked when restored.

Assist now asks once before it sends anything to Google's Gemini, and you can turn that off in Settings. Premium is 150 Assist actions a month, and the app says so. Locked documents are safer: hidden from the app switcher on Android, closed after you have been away, never read in the background. Screens fit narrow phones, large text and right-to-left languages. Fixes for backups to Drive, importing from the old app, stamps, reminders and the size limit.

Cleaner scans: pages keep more of their colour and highlighter marks. Google Drive backup connects in one step and no longer shows the Google sign-in sheet again and again. Redacted pages stay searchable for the words left on them. Switches in Settings respond to a tap anywhere on the row. Reminders say when notifications are off, crop handles are easier to grab, and links open inside the app.

Keep a copy of every document in a folder you choose: Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud Drive or your phone. Import photos or a PDF straight from the library. Share and Save sit side by side on every document and page, and pages can go to your photo gallery. See when a page is being enhanced, and why. Enhancing is much faster on older phones, and tilted pages come out cleaner. Works with a keyboard.

Merge documents, move pages between them or split some off. Draw, highlight and black out on a page; a redaction removes the words beneath it. Read a document as one scroll. Tag documents and filter by tag. Lock the app with your fingerprint, face or screen lock. Tap a line to copy it. On iPhone, DocScanner is in the Photos share sheet. A cleaner that keeps shaded table rows instead of bleaching them. Assist reads about 12 pages at a time and offers to split longer documents.
