Read your own books with an AI companion. Hold any word for its meaning in that sentence, ask about the book, listen in natural voices, and keep every new word. Bookmuse is a calm reader for your own books, with an AI companion beside every page. Read in the language you're learning, understand every word in its sentence, listen along, and keep the words you meet. READ YOUR OWN BOOKS • Open EPUBs from Files, Mail, Safari or AirDrop; your books stay in your own iCloud Drive • Page or scroll, with themes, fonts and spacing you set • Contents, Search Book, bookmarks, and highlights with notes UNDERSTAND EVERY WORD, RIGHT ON THE PAGE • Hold a word or select a sentence and tap Translate: a card slides up with the meaning it has in that sentence, not just a dictionary list • Pronunciation, every common meaning, a natural example and synonyms • Word roots: see that "possession" comes from Latin possidere, "to hold", and recognise those roots in other words • Ask a follow-up about any word: "Is it formal?", "Give me more examples" ASK THE BOOK • Ask AI about the passage you're reading, or the book so far: "Who is Mr. Bingley?", "What just happened?" • Answers come from the book's own text, around where you are LISTEN • Bookmuse reads your book aloud and the text follows along • Bookmuse Voices: natural voices for English and Vietnamese that run on your device, a free optional download • Or any Apple voice, including Enhanced and Premium voices and your own Personal Voice • Tap a sentence while listening to translate it, ask about it, or jump there KEEP THE WORDS YOU MEET • One tap saves a word, with the sentence and book it came from • Saved words are marked everywhere they appear in that book, so you meet them again • Your Vault: notes, tags, search, and filters by tag, language or book • Import word lists (CSV/TSV) and export your Vault as CSV REMEMBER THEM • Flashcards scheduled with spaced repetition (FSRS), so each word comes back right before you'd forget it • Finish a book, then review the words you saved from it • A daily reading goal, reading and review streaks, and reminders at the times you choose ALSO A TRANSLATOR • Translate tab for any word or sentence • Make Bookmuse your default Translate app: select text in any app, tap Translate, and save the word in one tap YOUR CHOICE OF AI • BookMuse AI (default): rich cards, follow-ups and the full Ask AI with nothing to set up, free for now • Apple Translation: free, private, offline once a language is downloaded; gives the translation • Apple Intelligence: on-device, on supported devices; adds roots, meanings, follow-ups and Ask AI • Or connect an AI provider with your own API key: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, Groq, Mistral, DeepSeek, xAI, or any OpenAI-compatible server (including Ollama or LM Studio on your own network) PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, no ads, no tracking, no analytics • Your books, words and progress sync across iPhone and iPad through your own iCloud • Choose Apple Translation or Apple Intelligence to keep lookups on your device WIDGETS • Today, Reading and Review Progress: your goal, streaks and the week at a glance • Up Next: the words due for review, with their meanings • Recently Added: your newest words Built for iPhone and iPad, with Liquid Glass.
