Lights, camera, ねこ: Our App Store page now has short videos that show the app at work, from hearing a word to tracing it and finishing a quiz. To film them, we gave the app a special recording mode that only our own test tools can turn on. Thanks everyone for downloading Japanese Vocab! In this update, we've added one small and very polite new feature: a chance to tell us what you think, at a happy moment. A quick question after a great quiz: Once you have been practicing for a few days, finishing a quiz with a new best score or a really strong round may bring up Apple's standard rating card, a couple of seconds after your score appears. It never shows up in the middle of a quiz, while you learn or write, or after a purchase that did not go through, and it asks at most once per version. Thanks everyone for downloading Japanese Vocab! In this update, we've added one big new feature: Write, right between Learn and Quiz on the home screen. Write: Now you can practice writing every one of the 502 words with your finger. Each character of a word gets its own square, and long words wrap into rows, so even どういたしまして has room to breathe. Watch the stroke order draw itself, trace over a faint guide in one of three inks, use the eraser, and hide the guide when you feel brave. Tap the word to hear it, use the arrows to go word by word, or open All Words to jump to any word in any topic. Prefer pen and paper? Print a practice sheet for any word, with its romaji and meaning at the top. Greetings & Phrases is free to write, and Unlock Everything opens the other 14 topics. Thanks everyone for downloading Japanese Vocab! In this update, we've fixed a bug that kept the app quiet when your iPhone was in silent mode. Sound in Silent Mode: Before, turning on silent mode also silenced the speaker on every card, so いぬ the dog could not even bark its own name. Now the Japanese voice says every word even with silent mode on, as long as your volume is up. Your own music or podcast keeps playing underneath, so you can learn with a soundtrack. Closed, everything fits the narrow outer screen. Open it, and lessons, practice and quizzes spread out across the larger inner screen, held upright or turned on its side. Thanks everyone for downloading Japanese Vocab! In this update, we've fixed a bug that occurred when tapping Get in Switch App to download one of our other Japanese apps. Get Our Other Japanese Apps in One Tap: Switch App on the home screen lets you jump between Japanese Vocab, Japanese Kanji, Japanese Hiragana and Japanese Katakana. Before, tapping Get on an app you didn't have yet only told you it wasn't installed. Now it takes you straight to that app's App Store page, so you can add it and keep learning.
