Lights, camera, 山: Our App Store page now has short videos that show the app at work, from hearing a kanji's readings to tracing it and finishing a quiz. To film them, we gave the app a special recording mode that only our own test tools can turn on. Thanks everyone for downloading Japanese Kanji! In this update, we've added one small and very polite new feature: a chance to tell us what you think, at a happy moment. A quick question after a great quiz: Once you have been practicing for a few days, finishing a quiz with a new best score or a really strong round may bring up Apple's standard rating card, a couple of seconds after your score appears. It never shows up in the middle of a quiz, while you learn or write, or after a purchase that did not go through, and it asks at most once per version. Thanks everyone for downloading Japanese Kanji! In this update, we've added one big new feature: Write, right between Learn and Quiz on the home screen. Write: Now you can practice writing all 1,026 kanji with your finger, one kanji per page, grade by grade. Watch the stroke order draw itself with numbered strokes, trace over a faint textbook-style guide in one of three inks, use the eraser, and hide the guide when you are ready to fly solo. Tap the kanji to hear its readings, use the arrows to step through, or open All Kanji to jump to any kanji in any grade. Prefer pen and paper? Print a practice sheet for any kanji, with its meaning, on'yomi and kun'yomi at the top. Grade 1 is free to write, and Unlock Everything opens grades 2 to 6. A friendly tip: 一 takes one stroke. Thanks everyone for downloading Japanese Kanji! In this update, we've fixed a bug that kept the app quiet when your iPhone was in silent mode. Sound in Silent Mode: Before, turning on silent mode also silenced the speaker on every card, so the kanji kept their readings to themselves. Now the Japanese voice says each kanji's readings even with silent mode on, as long as your volume is up. Your own music or podcast keeps playing underneath, so you can learn with a soundtrack. Thanks everyone for downloading Japanese Kanji! In this update, we've made the app ready for iPhone Duo. Made for iPhone Duo: The app now fits both screens of iPhone Duo. Closed, everything fits the narrow outer screen. Open it, and lessons, practice and quizzes spread out across the larger inner screen, held upright or turned on its side. Thanks everyone for downloading Japanese Kanji! In this update, we've fixed a bug that occurred when tapping Get in Switch App to download one of our other Japanese apps. Get Our Other Japanese Apps in One Tap: Switch App on the home screen lets you jump between Japanese Kanji, Japanese Vocab, Japanese Hiragana and Japanese Katakana. Before, tapping Get on an app you didn't have yet only told you it wasn't installed. Now it takes you straight to that app's App Store page, so you can add it and keep learning.
